2011's to be available in Right Hand Drive?
I found an article from this Australian web site that mentions the 2011 will be available in RHD for Japan. Is this true? I haven't found mention if it anywhere else. When was the last time Ford made RHD Stangs?
At the moment the Ford Mustang isn't available in RHD for Australia, however starting April it will become available in Japan in RHD. Expect the Mustang to be available via Japanese import dealers, however price and specs remain unknown at the moment.

I seem to recall the ones sent to Australia are converted there by the import company or a company subcontracted to them. I don't believe there was any engineering put into the current platform for the RHD provision.

Hmmm, not sure why there would be a RHD version for Japan. Sure, they drive on the left just like us Brits......but just like us Brits they also love the fact the Mustang is LHD. It adds to the character of the car for me.
New cars in Australia have to be RHD, otherwise they are illegal, and I know a number of S197s have been converted at huge cost.

Bah! As an American, I'm all for using the metric system, but the side you are supposed to walk/drive on is where I draw the line. You walk to the right. You drive to the right. You sit on the left. You all need to switch to LHD! :-P

My current car has its right hand export models and diesel export models made on the same assembly line as my model car is built on. There is 'no way' someone can buy one of these (export only) models from the factory. The dealer won't even sell me the fender (side of car) mount european turnsignals. They tell me "for european cars only, can't sell part in America".

Its probably better to import one of those rather than do a conversion? I might live in Hong Kong for a little while and I want a 2011 mustang here!
thanks!!

The Mustang is not engineered from Ford to be RHD, however local engineering companies here in Australia, and in Japan, would convert them.
The only factory RHD Mustang that I'm aware of is the 2001 Cobra. It was re-engineered to RHD and complied to Australian Design Rules, by Ford's performance vehicle arm Tickford Vehicle Engineering (now FPV).

We're all hoping it would. I've always wondered why such a cult car, that is one of the most recognisable and popular cars in the world, is restricted to LHD.
There was talk it was suppose to share a platform with the Falcon, which automatically means it'll be available in RHD. But recently there have been tidbits indicating that it (Mustang) will retain it's unique platform thus no guarantees of RHD. However if Ford are true to their "One Ford" mantra you think the least they would do for it's new platform is engineer it to accept LHD. Mad if they don't.

I agree. -1 Australia for banning LHD. Still, with that in mind, a RHD would be nice for the land down under so they can enjoy Mustangs without prohibitive costs.
