What's strange to me after looking at this file is that the V6 Auto has different size base tires than the V6 manual, 215/65/17 compared to 225/60/17, wonder why?

Rolling resistance ... to squeeze out that extra 1 MPG in the model they will sell the most of. Possibly the particular tire they picked was not holding up too well behind a manual or was not sporty enough so they switched to a different tire and made it 10 mm wider.

What's interesting, is that "e-salesman guide" Kevin posted last week states all base V6's get 215/60-17's ... they sorta combined the two specs !!

Almost 300 pounds heavier! Let the beat down commence! The Camaro is already running 14.2 at 99, the Mustang should be 13.8 at 102.

Something that the spec sheet shows that isn't what we've heard is the oil capacity, shows 5 qts. including the filter. Supposed to be 8 qts. for the 10K extended drain intervals, at least that is what has been quoted before.

I remember reading about the narrower tires on the auto trans V6 Mustangs awhile back, when Ford first released info about the 2011 V6. Like orange3.9stang mentioned, I'm sure it is for mpg reasons, and is one factor in why the auto V6 gets better gas mileage. Nearly every time I've put wider tires on a vehicle, I've noticed a drop in mpg.

The all-new 5.0L V8 gets the 8 quart pan, not the 3.7L V6.

After doubting 13's for an '11 V6 for quite some time, I now believe that you are correct. 305hp and the weights listed here suggest 13.70's @ 100-101 mph in the 1/4 mile for the V6 / Manual. The automatic will likely be capable of 13.90's @ 98-99 mph.

Brian,

What changed your mind? The new spec sheet just confirmed what we already knew regarding weights.

funny how the 2011 matches the weight and hp of a 1998 Camaro Z28. I know the Camaro has a lot more torque and the engines were underrated, but that was the great LS1 now being matched by the base V6 Mustang.

On a similar note. Motortrend is running an article on the original 5.0 (1982). Zero to 60 in 6.9 seconds!

I don't know about that. I'm sure I had read that the V6 was getting a 8 qt pan too. Trying to find it again, found this quote:

Other new features of the 2011 V6 Mustang include 10,000-mile oil change intervals thanks to a die-cast aluminum deep-sump oil pan
Like was said in another post, can't imagine a 10K oil change interval with only a 5 qt pan.

Hi, Greg, not quite sure how to explain. Just starting to get very optimistic and the car weighs less than I was really expecting. Deep gearing in the new 6 speeds help, better aero than the previous generation S197's, etc.

Another interesting tidbit.

The GT Brake package wheels are 19"x9" dark stainless painted wheels.
GT/CS and optional wheel 19x8.5" painted with machined face.
V6 Performance Pack - 19x8.5" painted wheels. (EDIT: fixed the width)

So which ones in the Order Guide are the V6 Perf. Pack, the 64V?

I'm curious about the fact that the V6 PPack uses the same 255 tires, but with narrower rims. Does anyone have an idea which brakes the V6 PPack will use?

From the Autospies thread:

Is the red car a V6 Perf. Pack? It's not an MCA car, (no black trunk panel) and it has the 19" rims.

This one looks like and MCA (from the front), and also has the 19" rims.
