Cool 2011+ Mustang Sticking Clutch Pedal Easy Fix Tutorial!

Since I bought the car I've had an issue with the clutch sticking at high rpms when driving the car hard at the track or on the street. Well a guy posted in another forum some instructions for fixing the issue and tried it out and it worked! So here is a video tutorial for everyone since I know a lot of people have this issue! Let me know if you have any questions!!

Here's a video where the guys at lethal talk about the spring and what it does and how it causes the issue.

I seriously doubt that this procedure works. I know when this would happen on my Boss, I would try to lift the pedal back up with my foot and it wouldn't help. The clutch would take 5 or 6 seconds to start working normal again.

Really? When I've had the issue, when I bring the clutch up it works fine. There are several people who've done this and haven't had any issues. It's gotta help it at least a little bit lol.

Yeah some people have been lucky and not had the issue, but a lot of us have and it's quite irritating when it happens lol.

Ive got this issue and I appreciate the video, but Id rather Ford fix the problem than remove the spring and deal with play in the peddle. If I have no luck with Ford, though, I'll try it, so thanks.

The Ford fix is to replace the GT pedal with GT500 pedal ... GT500 pedal is same as GT pedal without the spring.

I believe that was a 2012 GT500 pedal assembly, the 2013 GT500 has the spring. The spring is there to help overcome the higher pedal pressure on the 2013 GT500. I am going to remove the one on my 2013 GT500 when I get the car. I think that it contributes to some of the clutch problems that have cropped up with the 2013 GT500 clutch.

Most likely this would have helped your Boss, the issue with the spring is that under load it will actually bind and the master cylinder is unable to push the pedal back. After removing it there is no longer a bind.

If it were that simple, Ford would have issued a TSB for the 2012 Boss long ago, and corrected newer Boss 302s during production. I was told by Ford that their engineers were fully aware of the problem, and that it had to do with the pressure plate not being able to handle the centrifugal forces occurring during the the high RPMs. Now Ford is just telling Boss owners it's normal. It's a problem that cannot be duplicated by your dealership, so they don't need to bother fixing it for the small number of Boss owners that actually race their Boss. With no fix in sight I could no longer enjoy my Boss, so I traded it in, like others have done.

Yeah it is true the ford dealers are telling people it's normal. That's what they told me and that it's designed to do that. Which I know is bs.

I will say, if you watch the video posted by lethal, it does provide some insight into the spring. And there was a TSB issued for 2011+ mt82 equipped cars to replace the clutch assembly with the gt500 assembly I believe.

You must be talking about TSB 10-19-4, which was for the clutch pedal assembly, which was only applicable to the early 2011 MY. The real fix is a new aftermarket clutch.

I've had the clutch pedal stay down briefly after shifting at high RPM, but it never stays down for 5-6 seconds, basically just feels like I let off the pedal and it pauses before coming back up ...
I'm not willing to remove any "helper" springs just yet, but if the problem becomes worse, I might.

If you like the feel of a heavier clutch that provides a little better feed back I would suggest doing it. If done right you can always put it back on, and after it comes off the clutch effort increases by about 10-15% which feels much better IMO.

I removed the spring. It takes a few days of driving to get used to the heavier clutch feel. It feels more like an old school muscle car clutch now.

I did this and it fixed the problem. My issue is that when I took off the retaining clip, it got launched and now I can't find it. Anyway to order a new clip?
