that has got to be the best looking seam I've ever seen on a mustang hood- congrats to you, looks like maybe Ford CAN do a decent job on some... maybe they have a disgruntled camaro fanboy on the hood line that has but putting out the hideous looking ones? crazy how most are sloppy as heck, then you see one that looks as decent as this...

anyways, congrats- I personally very strongly feel if the edges were sealed properly (like this) with even remotely reasonable care, these will last as long as any other hood on the market, doubt you will ever see a issue on that hood

on the other hand- the typical ugly seamed ones have been dropping like flies

EDIT- just reread- this was a repaired hood or a replaced hood? in any event it looks to have a full bead of sealer on the hem... if a dealer tech repaired that and resealed, they need to hire him to do QC on the hood line

 

Got word today that Ford is replacing my hood.

 

Repaired. The Ford dealer near me has a great shop and manager there. Good guy. York Ford if anybody is reading in the Boston area. When I brought in the car he told me his guy has done a lot of them and he does them right. So far I believe him. I'm taking some other parts there for paint soon.

Wellp...add my 2011 to the club. I had a tiny blister underneath the hood that has grown a bit but the new one on the leading edge is the one that ruined my day.

It's about 1/4" in diameter now.

Car has fewer than 22,000 miles on it...but it was purchased in August of 2010...always garaged, never driven in snow/salt, etc

Am I totally out of luck or has Ford helped people outside of warranty?

 

You guys are really scaring me . I need to have another closer look at mine. If it does blister though, it will be a new cervini hood anyways.

 

I have looked at the Cervinis many times. None of them really do it for me.

 

If I had a 10-12, I'd probably do the Heat Extractor, 03-04 Cobra style. It's the least assuming 10-12 offering, IMO.

Meh. Too plane Jane for me. If I'm going to upgrade it better look "not stock". This looks stock-ish.

Getting warmer. Looks a little like Roush hood scoops though and I hate those. At least this one's functional.

I have also considered the Concept hood from Cervinis. Understated, not gaudy, and follows the design of the S197 concept hood from the auto shows.

I agree. I actually like this hood. I need to ask my painter how much to get it in kona. I might do a kona clear bend so you can see the CF grain.

 

You would have to do some sort of faux CF on it. The Cervinis hoods are fiberglass. That would look nice though.

 

In my experience, you might get them to split the cost with you but that half was quoted at $1,000-$1,200 for me so I skipped since it's only the underside of mine so far.
