Question 2011 Mustang GT question??

Is it possible to order a 2011 GT without the Premium package- just base, BUT still option to have the 6 gauge instrument cluster with the 100 color display??

I don't care for the leather seats in the premium package. I think this is what costs the most of the $3,000 Premium add.

I prefer cloth seats... thanks in advance if someone can help

I think the only way to get it is in the premium.

I just drove a '10 today and I really like the standard gauge pack and the way it is lit, looks really good.

The "6-gauge cluster with MyColor® illumination" was part of the premium package in the 2010 Mustang. I doubt it will be any different for the 2011 model.

Leather is just one of many upgrades included in the premium package. The only way to get a 10/11 Mustang with the 6 gauge MyColor is to get the premium package. You can always have the interior reupholstered in cloth. Maybe trade someone who got cloth who prefers leather.

what, you can't listen to an ipod in Boston?

I guess you have a point, one CD full of MP3's will hold me for a long time . . . and the only real music I'll need to listen to will be the mechanical kind . . .

actually I want it for the phone, here in the communist-wealth of Massachusetts I'm sure they will be clamping down on cell phones soon -- actually I have to agree it's kind of a good thing, way too many people texting and talking when they should be paying attention to driving -- so the hands-free voice-activated thing would be good

haha i was making a bit of a joke about the poster who started this thread not wanting the premium model, cuz he calls out his ipod in his SN

PS sync hands free is awesome, thought it would be a toy but i use it almost everyday you dont really realize how many calls you get while driving plus its a must for manual transmissions, phone, steering wheel, and shifter > 2 hands

Thumbs up

After I wrote the thread, I went and looked at the options along with the book- you guys are all right. The only way to go is with a Premium. Thanks for the encouragement and the info...

I believe Ford killed the 6-gauge MyColor option on the base Mustang GT starting with the 2009 model year. That's when they made the trunkwart (sat antenna) mandatory on all premium GT's as well. Kinda sucks, but it is what it is.

Get the premium for sure. 10+ are so **** nice. I used to own an 07 GT with every option including premier trim, comfort package etc.... it felt like junk when I traded it in on my 10'.

Will a dealer install a sync package to a car, if it was not originally equipped?

Nope. You can't. It's tied into every freaken system. The dumb broad at my local dealer tried to tell me they "install the navi systems after purchase ALL the time". Yeah sure, not with Sync.

Sync + EP = win. Too many people think the EP is just "nav" and they don't need "nav". They're missing out.

While I am generally a big fan of tech, my main concern is that this system is going to cause accidents because it forces the driver to take their eyes off the road longer in order to find the control they need.

I like good old fashioned clicky buttons, so I'm happy without it. It's still pretty cool though.
