So much BS on forums, there was never supposed to be an annoucement. Don't believe anything you read unless it's on ford.com.

My understanding the release won't be until the NAIAS in Chicago.

They're called "rumors" for a reason, people!

Ford needs something for Detroit. The V6 Mustang and Fiesta was big news to the general public.

What about the GT, dude? Yeah, well, Ford is milking this rollout of the 2011 Ford Mustang for all the news coverage it can get. So the company ain't talking about the 2011 version of the 5.0-liter V8, which we hear puts out roughly 400 hp. And there aren't any details about the selection of six-speed manual and automatic transmissions that are on their way for the Mustang GT. Ford will reveal the specifics in mid-December.

I have a feeling - and it is just a feeling - the GT will surprise up with more than the 400hp were hearing about.

Remeber right before the GT500 was announced in 2006? Everyone was hearing/guessing/speculating the GT500 would have 450hp, or 475hp and then pow - its not a Cobra, it's a GT500 with 500hp!

I see a similar replay in our near future.

That would be awesome. However, if Ford went with a safe 400HP (more with a custom tune) the car would fly and lay the smack down on the Camaro and Challenger.

Ford has a history (at least a short one of the last few years) of surprising everyone with numbers. Like was mentioned before, the GT500 came up with more than was expected. Now the V6 has just recently come in above where most people thought it would. Most were speculating that it would crank out 290hp...maybe 300 at the most. Then Ford comes out and gives us 305 and a heck of a torque curve to boot and blew everyone away.

I would venture to bet that most of the rumors of the 5.0 making xxx hp are started by Ford themselves and are lowball rumors. That way we all get to thinking we will see 400hp and BAM...Ford blows us away (and pimp slaps Camaro5.com) with 430HP. It all makes sense.

i agree, why 1 up the camaro v6 by putting one hp more when the v6 sure as heck doesnt need that much hp to get the job some. I think ford will 1 up the camaro ss and place it between 427-428hp but thats just a guess, ford came out on top wit hp numbers with the v6 mustang so why not do it with the gt even though they both wont need it to get the job done. Average people look at numbers.

I doubt we'll hear anything until after the AETC is over. Would be the better venue for Ford to give the first real peak at its new engine before the public show.
