2011 GT/CS fair price
2011 GT/CS fair price
I was just curious what some of the other members are paying for used 2011s in general since there are such stellar deals on leftover 2012s. We were going to order a 2013 but are having a hard time justifying the price difference for just the cosmetic changes. There's a really nice 2011 GT/CS nearby with about 12000 miles totally loaded with 3.73, glass roof, navigation, HIDs, comfort package, etc. They're asking around 33k for it. There's also a leftover brand new 2012 GT/CS with everything listed above but the glass roof and HIDs for 33k something. It's actually quite a bit under invoice minus the 2500 rebate. Plus, I have the 750 private rebate on a new one. Needless to say, there's no way I'd pay 33k for the 2011, but I do like the color better on it.
What do you guys think a fair price would be on the '11? I'm thinking high 20s. NADA/KBB don't seem very realistic when you can get the same thing new for just a little more right now. The advertised prices for used ones are all over the place. Many dealers and private parties want more for a 2 year old car with 20k miles on it than you could buy a new 2013 for. LOL All the ones with reasonable asking prices are a 500 miles drive, but I have seen some low mileage loaded GT premiums for 27-28k advertised price.

I'm pretty sure you mean $29k to $30k.
Some dealers use nice equipped used cars to attract your attention and get you into the dealer looking at a new car. If you're an informed buyer, and are looking for a 2011 model, you will likely find it's going to be better for you to get a new 2013 with the discounts. Don't forget about the X-Plan on the new car, plus your $750 coupon, and you could be looking at $4000+ off a brand new 2013 with a little negotiation.

Yep, I have X plan pins available and have actually talked to a couple places willing to sell a '13 at invoice minus the $500 rebate plus my $750 private cash. That's still a LOT more than a leftover 2012 or a used 2011, though, and there's not a lot left in the budget for a higher payment. The '13 we'd order would be in the high 39k range after all the rebates since we want a totally loaded car, so we're a full 10k over what we can comfortably afford right now. I know people will say buy a base '13, but I could not be happy with that. The GF and I are pretty set on one with all the toys.
The 2011 GT/CS is beautiful and looks brand new. It's race red. That's the only thing I'm not 100% thrilled over. I would prefer the candy red and a regular 401a package GT premium, but if we can get it at the right price I can live with the CS package.

Actually, it's about the same. We got approved for 3.5 fixed for 72 months for a used 2011 and 2.75 for a new one with Chase. I think the credit union might even be a half point or so lower, but we didn't check yet. That little percentage difference between used and new doesn't amount to much in the payment, but it's a moot point now anyway. They've been sitting on that car for nearly a year. We were going Saturday to buy it and somebody placed a deposit today over the phone and bought it sight-unseen. It pissed me off so much!!! It took me forever to find one with the options we wanted. I don't know if I can take any more staring at the computer screen looking for cars. LOL

The car you looked at today but are going to wait til tomorrow to buy is the same car someone looked at yesterday and is going to buy today.
Deposits are refundable.. Never understand why people won't leave one if they need to think it over.
Old saying in the car business...

I can't find anything used even close to what we're looking for now, so I guess it's gonna be a $150 higher payment on a 2013 so we can order what we really want.
Do dealers really have any more resources to find used cars than customers do?
What we're looking for is pretty hard to find. Ideally it would be a 401a premium with electronics package, 6MT, 3.73, Brembos, comfort, and HIDs in about any color but gray or silver. We could live with a loaded 402a, too. You can find one with everything else, but the nav is REALLY hard to find.

If its that hard to find the car, why didn't you place a deposit with a credit card over the phone? Hold it, tell the dealership you want to see it first, then buy or not buy it When you've sat in it/driven it. Why assume it will still be there just because it's been there for a while? I'll never understand people who wait and wait and wait for the right deal to come along and then get pissed because they didn't do what was needed to secure it. Gotta say, hard to feel any sympathy for you.

....and a real bummer if it showed up on here......
I agree with your deposit line. Hard call for sure. Anytime I have dealt out of town, I would call the day I was driving to look at it and tell them if it is gone when I get there, I will be upset....and they have always had the vehicle on hold.....even one dealer had a buyer waiting until I made a decision. Him and his family were at the dealership.......I passed, they bought.
I watched a Lightning locally and that is the way it went......finally made the decision......drove to the dealership to look it over after it sitting there for a month+....sold 30 min. before I got there.
Not sure about any advice on locating the specific used car. Anytime you deal used, the parameters cannot be to tight and that may be your issue. Might just have to accept a '13.....

You never see that in the pictures. Not to mention, just handing them money is no guarantee they wouldn't sell it out from under you if somebody else came in with the cash. I have to assume all the people that think I'm an idiot for not leaving a deposit are car salesmen or once were. I'm not looking for your sympathy. I just stated the fact that it was a moot point because it's now sold and I was irritated because of the unlikelihood it would sell at the precise time I was interested when it had been sitting so long.
2. I don't think your an idiot. Especially since the car was hours away from where you live.
3. Unfortunately all used cars sell at some point in time it's just hard to predict when they will sell.
Hence the saying I posted.
4. I agree with others that your gonna be hard pressed to find the exact used stang you want.
You may look for months trying to find exactly what you want. Just order one and be done with it.
5. As much as I'm not for long term financing if that's what it takes to get your payment inline with your finances then I would suggest doing that. You'll be much happier driving the exact carton want vs. settling for a lesser used car.
Good luck
