I have a 2013 GT that was built in January (iirc) that clunks, grinds, chatters into 2nd gear cold and intermittently at operating temperature. It also sometimes does it into 3rd. I tried to read as much of the sticky as I could, but its like 15 pages long. Does this mean I'm SOL and Ford will do nothing unless I have a major transmission failure?

2012 here built June of 2011, most of the issues come from the shifter. After I swapped to an MGW I have had no problems what so ever.

Easy... Took me 2 and 1/2 hours with a jack and jack stands and I barely know how to work on a car.

2011 GT/CS 6sp manual....18,000 miles since June build date and Nov '10 new purchase. No issues at all. I check the high speed shifting on every drive I do.

'13 here. My transmission is fine, no major problems. The main thing is to not manhandle the shifter - the driver mod should fix 90% of issues. For the final 10% there are aftermarket brackets and shifters. If the thing totally craps out, there's the warranty. The mt82 should not be the deciding factor in your descision.

but mine really is having an issue and I'm not trolling. I think about it every time I shift into 2nd. It clunks in. I'm afraid to take it in tho, because my local dealer tried to charge me for the axle vent tube leaking TSB.

Hello Dan S.,

I’d like to get this escalated to the customer service manager for your area. Please make an appointment with your dealer and PM me with your VIN, dealer, full name, mileage, and best daytime number so I can help.

I live in a small city with one dealer. Any other one is 40+ minutes away, so the logistics are difficult with getting a ride back and forth, especially if it will be in the shop for more than a day.

thank you Deysha, I am going to get a hold of the Ford dealer south of me in Seymour Indiana and see what my options are.

Sorry to hear that, but use the search function. There are hundreds of posts about this, including a sticky'd one that includes the full NHTSA investigation report. There's been nothing new on this subject in probably a year, so starting new threads on it doesn't accomplish anything.
