Nope, 2011 specific. Disregard everything in this thread if you don't have an '11

Yah I had an alterior motive, there is no traffic in the detailing forum. Also, you never know, there may be a new **** or something that must be detailed "differently"

Update: 303 Aerospace wipes came in, looks great, easy to apply and think it has converted me over from Meguiars. Thanks for the tip.

For those using the 303 - do you apply to your aluminum interior also?
I've just been using it on the black vinyl but am thinking I should try it on the dash trim too.

I have not applied it to the alumnium on purpose, but some has been on it before. It doesn hurt it, makes it a little greasy but shiny.

A damp microfiber cloth should sufficiently clean the aluminum trim. I don't think 303 will make it look any better.

i use all meguire's wash, wash/wax combo cleaner, and carnuba paste.

wash it clean. then wash/wax, then paste wax. then weekly wash/wax combo cleaner. after a few months wash all the wax off and start over. i wash it every week with wash/wax combo. its a single step wash.

Yah Ive been wondering how good those specialty washes are such as the wash/wax combo, no rinse, minimal water washes, etc.

Also, being in Seattle I've been wondering if there isnt a wash and/or wax that would protect against rainspots, road splatter (dirt).

I don't have access to a hose so I use a two bucket method with Optimum No Rinse. Works fantastic.

Okay went to Napa Auto during my lunch break to see what I could pick up. They didn't have my planned list but since I've gotten lots of good recommendations I was able to switch things up a bit just fine. Got the following:

Mothers Clay Bar Kit (instead of Maguiar's)
Maguiar's Gold Premium wash (instead of Maguiar's NXT Wash)
Maguiar's NXT Wax (as planned)
303 Aerospace (as planned)
Stoner Tarminator Bug Remover (as planned)

They only had microfiber towels made by Napa. I wasn't so sure about them so I'll have to go somewhere else to get some. Hopefully Autozone has some good options. This should be a good start for what I need though!

Autozone has ok microfibers, I dont buy ones that are China made, supposedly Korean machines are better.

Looking for 70/30 blend but those are hard to get locally, 80/20 blend and Meguiars Supreme Shine are great if you can find them locally.

Yah Im thinking it might be tough to find some good ones. Can you think of any other stores to check? What about Target, Walmart?

Edit, I've been calling around. I can only find Viking microfiber or Peak brand name microfiber towels. Most places just have their own. It seems that Viking are okay. Can anyone comment on them? I'd like to pick some up for this weekend to wash my car. Dont want to wait to order some.

Ok so the biggest headache I have is getting the grime/brake dust behind my spokes on my wheels.... Is there a good spray on wash off to get all that stuff off? I get most of it but unless I spend all day moving the wheels and squeezing in there...

I just spoke to a Meguiar's employee about this. This is what he said:

Basically if you want just a black look with no shine then look for #40 it is in a tan bottle. If you want a small amount of shine look for Natural Shine. Supreme Shine will shine even more. All of those products are for vinyl and rubber. If you want a real wet look then you will need to use Insane Shine and it is for rubber only. All can be found on meguiars.com, and all but #40 are in retail stores.

I like P21S/S100 gel wheel cleaner for scrubbing the wheels down, or Meguiar's Hot Rims all wheel cleaner. For longevity, I periodically coat the wheels with Poorboy's Wheel Sealant, which helps keep brake dust to a minimum.
