The current 18's are 8.5" in width. I am sure they are at least the same to support the 245 tire on the car. It would be nice if they were at least 9" wide.

How sure are you? A post earlier in the year from some one in the know said the wheels were 18x8 and 19x8.5 IIRC, but that could have changed since that was around 8-10 months ago I believe. I was just wondering if anyone had concrete info on the widths since most of the specs on the upcoming Mustang are out and more or less set in stone now.

FWIW many of the SN95 GT's had 8" wide wheels (17x8) and used stock 245mm wide tires.

Very sure, starting in 06 18" wheels for Mustang GT's are 18X8.5". As far as the 2010 Mustangs I don't know that 's why I was asking...I can't imagine them going more narrow for the 18" wheels for the 2010 Stang though. What would be nice is if the 19's were at least 9" wide, but I have a feeling those are 8.5" in width as well.

Here is the OEM 18" wheel from the FRPP catalog.

The OEM Shelby GT500 wheel is 18 X 9.5"..here is that wheel

I wasn't asking how sure you are of the width of the current wheel sizes. That information has been common knowledge for years. This thread is about 2010 wheels. You said you are sure the 2010 18" wheels are at least 8.5" wide. That is what I was asking you how sure you were about.

Either way, 8.5" is too narrow IMO. We need at least 9" wheels up front and 10" in the rear for that nice fat-tread look. And we need a more aggressive offset if the wheel width stays the same!

Would the offset not have to change some at least for the rear? I thought that the rear fenders were wider than the current model. If the offset stayed the same would it not hide under the fender even farther.

As I said in my post I didn't know what the 2010 wheels were going to be in 2010, hence my first post on the subject back on 11/27 asking what are the width's of these wheels.

That's what I'm talking about..

Probably stuck going aftermarket or going with the GT500 wheel.

Since the front suspension is the same, I'm sure Ford isn't changing the widths of the wheels for cost reasons. From 94-04 the GT wheels were 17x8. So I doubt they would change from 2009-2010 which means 18x8.5 but who knows on the 19 & 20 inch versions. Don't thinks they would be much if any wider so they would not have to adjust anything in the suspension for them to fit for width. just my $.02

I think you are right, the cars (2010) were running 245 tires with the 19" wheels Pirelli PZero. About the max you would want to go with a 245 tire is a 8.5" width.

FRPP will release the 19" wheels that are showing up on the 2010 GT500, that could be the inexpensive way to upgrade vs. going with a CCW, HRE and such.

Dave,
Any word on WHEN the 19" 2010 GT 500 wheels will be released?
Ive gotta have those ASAP. Much better than the current SVT wheel IMO.

Sorry man I have no clue. At this moment it's just conjectire on my part. I am just stating what always happens in the past. It's amazing how quick FRPP is able to get SVT parts into their inventory. I am sure it's a matter of time.

I would bet 6 mos. after the release of the car.

Dave

Yes, but if you look carefully at the '05 body style cars, the offset is the for front & rear wheels and the rears do tuck in a bit more than the fronts. When you go aftermarket, typically the rear wheels will be wider than the fronts (10 inch is common), allowing a wider tire fitment and end up bringing the tire out just about even with the fender lip. Looks great that way, IMO. The only way to achieve that look (minus the wider tires) with the OEM wheels is to use wheel spacers.

These would look real good in a polish format like the bullets.

Those are my favorite as well...It's just probably that they are only 8.5" wide. If they went with a 9" wide wheel we can stuff 275's on all 4 corners for a good handling upgrade.
