2010 same as 2008...Bullitt?
"The new Bullitt is basically a rolling test car for the 2010 Mustang GT. The 2010 Mustang GT will share the suspension, LSD and 3.73 rear-end with the 2008-09 Bullitt. What you feel from the chassis in the new Bullitt is the basic setup for the 2010 GT."

Has anyone else heard this? It sounds like it could be true. But more importantly, would it be good news or a disappointment?

Having Driven one now. I'd say it's a plus. It is way better than my 07GT was. The Suspension difference, Mid Pipe set-up, CORRECT gear's, fixed shifter, and superb interior differences, all lead me to believe it. They wouldn't put all that into a fleeting edition. Their has to be some carryover. If they wrap all this into their new edge styling upcoming, they will have another winner.

I've never heard anyone poo-poo the Bullitt, if the 2010 GT performs to that standard I don't think there will be all that much complaining (unless its from Bullitt owners).

Let's face it, they're not going to give us anything too surprising for 2010. I think this is very likely. For one carry over year, they are not going to do much else but throw a few off the shelf parts on the GT while they wait to unleash the 5.0.
I don't think that would be disappointing either. With the weight advantage that the Mustang will have over the Camaro and Challenger, it will be able to hold it's own for a year with a small bump in HP and handling such as with the Bullitt mods. It may even get lighter than the current car which would only help things.
The current Bullitt is already outdoing the Challenger.
I'm fine with this proposed scenario.

They kickass...
Thats a cheap and easy improvement for the base GT...

What specifically did Ford do to the Bullitt's suspension? If I remember correctly they firmed up the shock dampening, increased the spring rates, and tweak the sway bars. Basically, you are probably getting a watered down FRPP handling pack???

It's a complete different setup to the FRPP kit. Drive a Shelby GT and a Bullitt. You'll notice the difference right away.

According to the TMS timeline info, the Bullitt has...
Chassis
Chassis
- New unique strut tower brace
- New Unique shock and strut tuning
- Rear spring change that lowers Vehicle Ride Height by approximately 6 mm
- Carbon metallic front brake pads

From my understanding, the FRPP is a firmer suspension. The Bullitt's suspension is tuned more towards ride compliance.

Due to increasing fuel costs, along with stricter CAFE regulations. It's highly unlikely that the 2010 GT. will get the Bullitt's 3:73 gears. Unless they're offered as optional

Given how high the current Mustang sits, any little bit helps IMO. Having seen a couple of Bullitt's around, I must say that there's a little more aggression in its stance compared to the standard GT. I just wish they would have, at least, given us a Watts Linkage.

Well it would seem to make sense that they would upgrade to the Bullitt's handling performance- it's proabably a relatively inexpensive upgrade and everyone seems to love how the Bullitt handles.
I wonder if they won't also tweak the engine to match the Bullitt's as well?
If they aren't going to give the 2010 a new powerplant maybe they will do the CAI?
The Bullitt is running better times than the Challenger RT- so it might be a good idea to bump the '10 GT up to 315hp.

Wouldn't surprise me one iota if they used the current parts for the 1 year carry over.
Thinkin out loud here... if the 2010 is old tech (most) and 2011 the 5.0 comes out,
and the new car (hypothetically...going back to the new 3 year design trend) that would only leave 2011/12 to have new stuff underneath.
If the new platform is coming as the 2013, I could see why Ford wouldn't invest in upgrading too much if at all.
Rather wait till the new platform for any major changes. (5.0L and other drop ins..not withstanding, especially if they are off the shelf components)
Or do they keep this 2010-2014 5 year Model run, and debut the new platform in 2015 with a 50th anniversary model?
In the grand scheme of things this would still have a 6 speed, 5.0L 400hp, new interior/exterior, and still handle well.
