2010 Mustang GT or 2011 Mustang GT

I'm looking into purchasing a 2010 Mustang GT but I figured why not just pay extra and get the 2011 Mustang GT with the 5.0..... I'm a little confused and well I understand there's a price difference but what is it and will it be worth the extra money to get the 5.0. Any advice and thoughts on the subject...

Thanks in advance

well i have a 2010 base GT w/ auto and a 2011 base GT w/ M/T, brembo and 3.73s and the 11 is so much better. I know i have a few options that make the 11 more capable car but still. it is all i could ask for in a $30k car (yes i got it at invoice).

I can't think of any reason to pick the 2010 over the 2011 unless you are getting a used 2010.

one big reason to pick the 2010 over the 2011 GT: price

I just picked up a used 2010 GT Premium with 7400 miles for $24K . . . comparably equipped 2011 would have been about $32ish . . . that worked for me, since 315 HP is more than enough for what I want to do with the car.

Also there are pretty good rebates on new 2010's right now . . . not quite good enough for what I was shooting for so that's why I bought the used one, but if you wait until after June 1 they might get better. (I hope I'm not going to be kicking myself for being impatient)

Of course, if money was no object, then I'd go for the 2011 -- why not, since it has more power, better MPG, and other improvements.

Josh,

How does the MPG compare between the two cars?
Not sure if your 2010 has 3.73s as well, but wondering if there really is a difference vs. another gearing?

jaf,

No matter how good the prices seem to be on 2010 GTs, I cannot find enough of a discount (5K or so lower than a 2011 X-plan) to justify going with a 2010 (although they are getting close). Until I do, pretty set on the 2011.

Plus fuel mileage, plus quiet, plus Brembo's and even if not plus stiffer chasis, gargantu-plus DOHC V8, plus no powersteering pump, plus whatever...it's the better car.

If you feel your financial situation slip the 2010 is still awesome and plenty nice and plenty fun!

Sorry to say i havent had the chance to drive the 11 enough to give an accurate answer (I have almost 100 miles on it and its just under 3/4 of a tank so its pretty much the same). after this weekend i will be able to give you a better answer on this. and the 10 has the standard 3.31 w/ auto

but with the brembo pkg and wheel/tires it comes with they drive like completely different cars. the 10 is nice, dont get me wrong but the 11 is on a different level.
