While the masses like the new pony I however do not like the change. The pony had been running wild since 65. Some things need to stay the same and true. There is no reason to update our running horse. Few symbols recieve icon status, and should remain true. There is true beauty in the muscle tone and structure of the 65 badass. There is no need for an update, period!

The 09 badge isn't an exact copy of the 65. The 09 has been 'updated' and changed slightly since the original. The biggest difference for the 2010 is the finish. The actual 'structure' has many similarities to the 65 as the 65 has a look similar to the 2010, especially in the head. This is a great example of what has kept the Mustang from going the ways of the Camaro. Updates to keep it modern without destroying the classic image.
The pony's facelift looks good. I can't complain. Just like the designers reinterpeted and refined the style and proportions of the original classic Mustang into the 05 model, they did the same with the actual emblem.
They fail to mention that while the pony disappeared from the grille of the redesigned 1979 Mustang there was a running horse in a circular red, white and blue cloisonné emblem placed on the front edge of the hood on all 1979-82 Mustangs execpt the 80-81 Cobra and 1979 Indy Pace Car replica. The 1982 Mustang GT used an all black background instead of red, white and blue.
The pony continued on the front grille through 1978 when it was replaced by “FORD” in block letters through 1982. The iconic Ford Blue Oval graced the front of Mustangs through 1993. The pony emblem returned in 1994 with some refinements. The logo was updated again in 2005.
