2010 Kona Blue GT

Nothing else going on today so a took a litte run up to the next town to the Ford dealer to look at the 2010 stangs. They only had 4, 2 GT verts, a Red V6 and a Kona Blue GT. I hadn't really gotten an up close look at the new body style, was a little undecided yet whether I liked it. I still like the 05-09 better but the new ones are pretty good, I'd have one I decided.

The Kona Blue one I looked at was a base GT, only option was a 3.31 gear. I did like the looks of the clothe seats, not a big fan of leather except I do like the looks of the saddle interior.

This car stickered at $28,845, probably would sell it for $27,500 tomorrow if I was to go back. If it is still there this time next month you could probably pick it up for $1000-$1500 less than that.

It'll probably be at least 6 months before I could even think about buying, so I'll just keep watching...

I believe that the 3.31 is the standard gear. The options are 3.55 or 3.73.

Be patient and you will either be able to get a great deal on an 2010 or can get the new 5.0. Either way, your getting something great.

Oh, I'm plenty patient, no money to buy keeps me that way.

The window sticker had the 3.31's listed as optional equipment.

But notice how the cost is zero... The 3.31 has been the stock gear since the 2005 model, the T-lock used to be the option, but was standard starting in 2010. Its included in the 300A rapid spec. Its not possible to get a standard GT with less equipment. Take a look for yourself if you don't believe me from Ford's 2010 Mustang Broschure. The only option shown is the 3.73. You would need to get a Premimum and manual to get the 3.55 gear.

there are dealers selling at a much bigger discount already.
a dealer in my area has a couple GT Deluxe coupes with the 3.73 axle ratio as the only option. MSRP on these are $29,340 - selling for $23,544.

Went back to the dealer today to look inside the car and drive it. Drove pretty nice, will take a little getting used to the clutch and it is quite a bit more stiff than my '04. Faster than my '04, by a little but not as much as I thought it would be.

They told me they would take $26K for it.

I told them I would probably just wait to get a 2011.

I really like the cloth seats compared to the leather seats in the vert they had sitting next to it.

It has been on their lot since November.

I think they might come down another 1000-1500 if I decided to actually get serious about it.

I think you're right. They probably will come down. I did an internet search, there's a dealer out there that lists 81 2010 Mustangs on his lot.

I would think it would still be worth waiting for the '11 -- the depreciation on the '10 will be brutal since everyone will want the 5.0 when it gets in the used market.

The price difference between the 2010 and 2011 is running around $5500 to $6000 with the rebates going on. In a couple years will there be that much of a price difference in the resale between the two years? I don't know.

When the 2011 become available, that will drop to maybe $24... if not lower.

Here in Virginia there is a $3000 rebate going on now. The GT mentioned probably has at least a $2000 markup on it. So there should be a $5000 discount on the vehicle now. The GT I am looking at is the Prmium model and it has a $2900 markup.

I just picked up a 2010 GT ... $3500 Below Sticker + 0% for 72 months. The best rate I could find for a 72 month car loan was 7% .... so the 0% is saving me around $8,000 on top of the $3500 below sticker!

Yup ... Ford Credit currently has 0% up to 72 months in Georgia ... not sure about other markets. I passed up $2500 in rebates to get the 0% ... but well worth it.

Well, I'm not credit worthy enough for 0% financing, if I get a new Mustang it would probably have to be a all cash deal.
