I predict this will be you're reaction after test driving one at the dealer. I test drove a 2010 when they were new, wasn't all that impressed. 2013 5.0 is a whole new animal.. 420hp, 6 spd, track apps, leather recaro's..mmm

I would hold my tongue about the '15 until I see them. Ford has messed up several cars when they restyle them: the 80's replacement for the Mustang - Probe, and the '58 Thunderbird to mention the two biggest failures. If you need something now or in the near future get the '14 5.0.

To the OP, there is a tremendous difference between the two cars thanks to the engine. Without knowing your financial situation or how you drive the car, it's tough to tell you whether it's worth it or not. Drive one and see for yourself, but when I went shopping, I was planning to buy a couple-year old GT with the 4.6, then I drove a 5.0 and had to find the money to afford the newer car. Couldn't go back once I'd driven the new one!

I'm not a fan of what I've seen about the 2015 style. The 5.0 is leaps and bounds more of a car vs the 4.6 variety, from the obvious ( drivetrain ) to the handling to the interior.
About 5 years ago I was in the same boat as kyler above. I planned on buying a nice 2005-2009 GT. Then in 2011 I drove a new 5.0 and I was hooked. I couldn't find the color & options I wanted, so I decided to sell a few cars to be able to afford a 2014 just the way I wanted it. Now our '66 GT and '94 Cobra are sold and my 2014 is being born tomorrow and delivered later this month.

If you could swing the payments it would be a very worthwhile upgrade. But that decision is totally up to you.
The only descriptions we have of the newer S550 (2015+) is that these cars will be built for the world market in mind so that invariably means some shifts in thinking vs the last 30 years (1979 to 2014). Some people are already talking about grabbing the older 'big' mustangs before its too late.
Coming from a 5.0 it would be easier for someone like me to wait - but we may see a lower HP number (with a corresponding reduction in weight) in the new models, either way coming from a 3V it would be a big change...

The engine output is where the most obvious difference will be felt.

If your 2010 is tuned to improve the throttle response, you probably would still feel the difference, although they might be a hair closer.
You are probably going to notice the difference in shifting feel between the 5-speed vs 6-speed manual transmissions.

I went for a test drive the other day and it was mainly on the freeway and the car really didn't feel that different do you think maybe that's cause I was already at a high speed. Would there be more torque drive on a 45 mph road compared to the freeway.

The only similarity I remember with my friends' 3Vs are the sound the ford coils make when starting up - otherwise it really is a different animal...

Yep, down low it won't necessarily feel much different but get it in 3rd gear around 40 MPH and punch it - you'll feel the difference. The power really comes on from about 3,500+ and it's addicting

I had a 09 bullittt with 4.10 gears, tune and exhaust. i traded it in for a 2013 5.0 with recaros and brembos. Its a great car much better performance than the bullitt nice on the inside just a great car. there is no question the performance is on a different level. I then tuned this car and the gap only got bigger.

I just traded in my 2010 for a 2013 GT/CS. I have to say....night and day difference (and my 2010 was Brenspeed tuned with 3.73 gears). The 2013 will eat the 10 for lunch....not even close.

I could see buying it straight up but you sold a 66 GT and 94 Cobra for a 2014 GT when the mustangs 50th aniversary is in 2015 with a remodel?? Wouldn't you at least want to wait and see what the 2015 is all about? The 2014's will probably be cheaper when the 15 is released also. I am somewhat in the same boat. I want to get into a new stang but with the 15's comming out it is hard for me to pull the trigger. If I don't like the 15's I will definitely get a nice 13-14..
I sold the 66 GT for a few reasons. First, to fund the new GT. Second, my Dad's building where I store the car will be sold in the near future and I won't have room for it at home. Third, I got an offer I couldn't refuse. I bought that car right and made a great profit on it. I will miss it, since all original rust free high option San Jose built GTs are not common. But for the reasons above, I decided it was the right thing to do. Besides - I still have - and will always have - the green 66 coupe in my avatar. For a while the new GT will have to be content being the second fastest Mustang in our house.
One other reason I ordered a new GT is that I hadn't seen any cars in the color & options I wanted. It is my first new car ever, so I figured I'd get it just the way I wanted it. I'm not a fan of the renderings of the '15 and definitely don't want to be the IRS guinea pig.
