2010-12 GT500 steering wheel retrofit to 2014?

It's curious, if one were to get a GT500 steering wheel from a 2012, can the switches swap from your 2014 wheel to make it work?

Yes. You need to swap the left switch plus the little harness that attaches to it. We successfully did that with the cluster retrofit. My 2012 GT500 steering wheel works flawlessly with the 2013/14 switches.

The right should be the same. If they differ (like you have a NAV) then you swap that one, too.

But those swaps are very easy.

If you don't mind, could you give a little more info on what you had to do to make the wheel work? My car has the track apps, up-down-left-right buttons on the left side, is this what you used as well? Any tips?

I much prefer the look of the GT500 wheel to the Boss and the price is definitely better as well.

This is the wheel you used, right? http://www.levittownfordsupercenter....00-p-1231.html

Thanks so much for any/all info!

Swap the switches and the little harness inside the wheel from your old one to the new one. That's it.

Glad we got this thread going. I'm in the process of getting another GT 500 Wheel. I'm just waiting to order it until I get back from vacation! Woo hoo!

There's plenty of threads where folks have swapped the switches out for the 13-14. After that it's plug and play. You can even change spokes.

I started a thread about this and posted a link to the best price on the net. I would order ASAP as the prices climbed since then.

The premium wheel is great but the GT 500 wheel is better. I had it on my prior sixer and on my GT soon.

Also Patrick when the time comes. Be VERY careful with the switches. Yes they simply slide out but are quite stubborn. You won't break them but could easily scratch them. In my book, it's the same thing.

Gotcha thanks, I was going to blue painters tape them prior to the swap. Good idea?

Great idea. Even use some style of plastic tool to wedge them out. Even though a flat head screwdriver works dangerously better.

That's the only thing I miss on my old car. The premium wheel is slippery and skinny. The Alcantra grips are thicker on the GT 500 wheel.

Yeah I'm all about the GT500 stuff. I am going to order the shift boot and e-brake boot as soon as the car gets here. I have a set of plastic panel poppers in all shapes and sizes from my car audio days, so I should have any trouble with them (knocks on wood). The only thing I'm worrying about is a steering wheel puller - is it necessary?

No puller necessary. Two tiny bolts on the side of the wheel. (Under the rubber plugs) and one large bolt under the air bag, that's it.

You'll spend more time disconnecting the battery and praying the airbag doesn't go off then actual wrenching. Lol

OK, so I installed the wheel tonight, swapped both sets of buttons and the harness with no problem.. BUT.. Now my cruise control isn't working. Any ideas? Does the car have to relearn something before it starts working again?

I pulled everything apart and made sure all of the plugs were secured and everything looked good.

Scratching my head...

Did you swap the harness for the left hand switch?
On the 2010-12 the cruise cable is in slot 2 of the switch connector and on the 13+ it is in slot 1.

Yes, I swapped the harness and both left and right side buttons. Everything that was in the original wheel is now in the new wheel.

Then it should work.. Hmm strange. I can ensure you, you don't need to program anything.

Double check the pins, etc..
