2009 Ford Mustang details emerge
Steve Saleen, founder of Ford tuner Saleen Inc., has shared some insider details on next next-generation 2009 Ford Mustang. Mr. Saleen spoke with John Breaux of CarCrazy at the 2006 Cruisin the Coast Auto Show in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he disclosed preliminary specs of the new car.
Saleen said he recently spoke with Ford CEO Alan Mulally, who said the 2009 GT Mustang will get a bump from 300 hp up to 350 horsepower. Mulally also said the GT500 would get get a modest 15 horsepower increase over its already impressive 500 horsepower.
The 2009 Mustang will not be a complete redesign, but rather a facelift of the existing model. The overall body shape is expected to stay the same, but the front and rear should see extensive reworking to keep things fresh.

Interesting. Maybe we will see a 375 or 400 h.p. Mach1?
Wonder if the 2008 Bullitt will have 350 h.p.?
For the money, I think I can live with a 350 h.p. 2009 Mustang GT. Maybe?
This is a good problem to have!

I would certainly expect to see a version of the new corporate V6 with at least the 235 it has now. Perhaps somehere in the 250 range? I think if they were to hang a turbo on it and plant that varient at say 310 horses that would make for some real excitment.

If, by corporate V6, you are referring to the new 3.5, its lowest HP rating so far is 263. So, is should be well above 250.

Thanks, but late to the party

I wouldn't expect it to be just front/rear... sides probably as well.
