1st oil change question,Mobil 1 ?

My 2013 mustang GT has 4000 miles on it, time for its first oil change.
My question is, is Mobil 1 synthetic ok to use ? I would think it is.

Lots of posts about ticking after oil changes and I was wondering if anyone had a problem with the Mobil 1 oil.

Thanks in advance.

That's what I use, except I did the first change around 1K.

Mobil1 and a motorcraft filter are all you need.

Used M1 on my 400 mile oil change. Haven't changed it again yet but will do an oil analysis when I swap oil later this month. Will post results

I don't think you can do much better than Mobil 1 with a motorcraft filter.
I figured I would ask as ticking seems to happen with some oils.

Thank you

Yes, you could do much better... Many many good full synthetic oils out there. But Mobil 1 is great too. Point is, fact that you are changing it, is great. Issues happen when people DON'T change it.

My dealership is giving me two oil changes free, and I'm going to use the first one this month, as I'm at 5100 miles and haven't changed the oil since 400 or so miles. I am very interested to see the oil analysis results of my current M1 compared with Motorcraft once I change it next, likely in the June timeframe.

Always have had good luck with M1 - I ran it for the 4 years I had my Audi S4, and I pushed that car hard (tracked it). The oil regularly got up to 275F when I had that car on road courses.

We run Redline, one of the few larger companies that offer an actual full synthetic. Mobil used to but thanks to Walmart they are no longer a full synthetic oil.

That's why I run Amsoil always.

Jay, I thought Mobil 1 EP (extended performance) was full synth? Not the regular Mobil line...

Mobil 1 synthetic Extended Performance is base four synthetic stock. Mobil 1 synthetic is a base 3 stock. Get the extended performance and you have a base four synthetic just like AMSOIL and royal purple.

That's what I thought Troy. So jay was mistaken in his comment, yes? (That Mobil 1 is NOT full synthetic).

I just wanted to correct misinformation.

Anyone run Joe Gibbs? They sell it up at my work, so I can get it at cost.

I had a engine built for a Buick grandnational by Kenny duttweiler a few years ago, he recamended synergyn (spelling ?).. Stuff was weird to say the least, get it on your hands and thinner/gasoline wouldn't remove it,but it was expensive.

I have used Mobil 1 for years with good luck,I would think its fine for the GT.

Yeah, I should've clarified. Most individuals who purchase Mobil 1 I've seen don't buy the EP.

Ok so I am curious......OIL or errrr SYNTHETIC.......same princples to lubricate and reduce fricition between parts. Ok I am curious....change your Oil at 400 miles, 3000 miles, or when the Oil Life on the car says too??? Common practice versus personal preferences......I on the fence as to when I should change....I have a brand NEW 14 V6 base....I am sold on the Synthetic...most likely Mobil 1 EP since I can get here and not have to order in like Amsoil....
