You may be right, I have never owned a performance manual vehicle. On a ford focus you dont shift gears at max RPM, so I probably just have to try some of the tricks in this thread.

I recommend you pay your service department a visit and show them what you’re experiencing with your shifter to make sure there is nothing going on. If you need further assistance, don’t hesitate to PM me.

I was having the problem where the shifter would way to easily slide into reverse when shifting into first at at stop. When I installed the MGW it was apparent the plastic protrustion on the shifter was worn by the sharp edges on the metal detent of the stock shifter body. You might be experiencing a similar problem due to wear.
