14’ Mustang GT experienced the infamous “Service Advancetrac” issue.

Hi Mustang owners! I'm new here.
Just wanted to warn/bring this to every mustang owner’s attention to be careful when you visit a touchless car wash that provides an “underbody wash” which shoots directly up under your car. Which might trigger the “Service Advancetrac” warning message and disable your ABS/traction control system as I experienced this myself, yesterday. I let the car dry out for a day and the warning message no longer exists. I drove about 10 miles with some spirited driving to see if the warning message would come back but it hasn't popped up. *Crosses fingers*

Have a good day, my friends.

probably because the bare wires, where they have contacted the exhaust and melted the insulation, only short out when they are wet . . . see this thread for details with pictures . . . and please let me know if this was the situation on your car, I'm curious!

I've actually seen that post before and that was the first thing I examined underneath my car on a lift, yesterday. Not sure what year your Mustang is but what's odd is the same exact wirings near my exhaust are far up and tucked away from the exhaust as if Ford knew about this issue and had corrected it for the 2014 models. I also examined my brother’s 14’ GT, yesterday and the wirings are completely tucked away from the exhaust. I'll try to get a photo later on after work.

thanks for the update . . . very interesting . . . if it is not that, then I don't understand; the wetness has to be shorting something out, I guess it must be something else

I have found another forum which also experienced the same issue after a car wash with their Ford Fusion. I'm staying away from touchless car wash for now lol. It totally sucks because my small town has rules for water usage/restrictions on the days I'm off of work.

It might be the harness, the rubber may be getting a little stiff and letting a little water in. I try to stay away from automatic car washes all together. In fact I try to only hand wash my car when it needs it. Only when I am not at home (out of town) and bugs are bad on it will I run it to a car wash but wash it my self no automatic ones they have to much pressure. I watched a automatic car wash blow off one guys 1/4 window louver.

The 'weather pack' connector seals can degrade over time and allow water intrusion. If it's happening at the car wash, it's a matter of time until it's happening in the rain, and/or worse it somehow triggers the system at the least opportune moment.

Have those connectors looked at. Don't trust them if you're getting such a result now. Later could be...

Take care!
