'13 GT Axle Back Exhaust

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I'm a new member here... I'm looking to put some affordable axle back exhaust for my '13 GT but don't want that raspy and popping sound that some have. I don't want it to sound like an import. I was thinking of the Flowmaster Outlaws because I've heard they have the deep and low vintage musclecar sound to them. Plus, they're nice and cheap! Can anyone tell me if they're too loud for daily highway use? Drone etc. I'm not paying $700+ for an axle back system.

Best bang for your buck axle backs are GT500's.

This, plus a resonator delete, hands down.

I plan on the GT500's based on all the sound clips I've seen so far. Anyone have a with/without resonators comparison (with the GT500 mufflers?)

Yeah, I tried to delete the other post but it won't let me. According to the FAQs you go into "edit" to do it but that doesn't work and there isn't a delete button... I'm new so perhaps I'm missing something obvious.

Originally that was the route I was going to go but I'm concerned that they won't be loud enough? ALso, will they fit a '13 GT with the new rear bumper cover?

They'll be loud enough without resonators. The Roush axle backs without resonators is louder if volume is your thing but has a more raspy tone. Personal preference. By far, The consensus hands down winner for the bang for your buck exhaust system for 11-14 GTs is gt500 a/b without resonators. It's not quiet nor obnoxious, no drone. It's perfect. I have a 12' so I'm unsure about your fit question.

These guys are referring to the single pipe per side GT500's, not the 2013+ quad tip GT500's. The single exit mufflers will fit.

I have them, they fit just fine.

I also have resonators and I'm happy with the tone and volume. They do burble a lot though, but I like that.

With is fine but the without will always be in the back of your mind so just cut them out the same day as your axle back install, save you some time

I got them with the boss quad exhaust. they are loud enuf for me, but with resonators out on the boss quads it is loud... I think I'm gonna get the QTP electric cutouts so I can modify on the fly...

Welcome to the forum! Using the search function, you'll find more talk about exhaust mods than you'll ever want to read. It's all been said 100x so all I will say is: you get what you pay for, especially on exhaust.

Except in the case of the GT500's where you get the best sound for the cheapest price.

That's debatable but true for the cheap Flowmasters!

Outlaws sound awesome IMO, but it doesn't sound like a vintage mustang at all to me. However since it doesn't seem like many people have them it does sound nice being a little different. The drone can be a little ridiculous around 65 or so on the highway, any time your sitting around 2k.

A guy in my car club with an '11 GT CS put the electric cut out side exhaust on his GT and on the dyno he actually lost hp and torque with that system. Not enough back pressure. If all you want is sound you'll like 'em.
