12 vs 13 ...
Well after 3 years since I last drove my mustang (07 GT/CS) .... I am finally back in the saddle. Well kind of ... I still have to buy my new one. Waiting to see the 13 in person first, but the more I look online ... it is just me or does the 13 look "plain" compared to the 12???
I am not sure how I feel about the front bumper (mainly the lower portion) but the rear bumper .... as much as people hated the "diaper" ... with out it, it kind of looks plain ... any thoughts???

I love the '13, but there is nothing wrong if you prefer the '12.
You may change your mind after seeing the '13 in person, especially side by side.
Check out this article with side by side pics of the '12 Boss and the '13 Boss.

So many thoughts already shared in other threads. I just gotta say that I like the '10-'12 tail area, particularly with the blackout on the deck lid between the tails and also with the pulse-pounding GT500 axle-backs' 4" tips.

Ill be getting a '13 in May and like you. I have a slight issue with the bottom front. But my problems are with the black plastic side fascia cutouts and the honeycomb grill smile. I'll solve it with the Boss open fog light inserts and I might just take off the bottom grill leaving it wide open like the Shelby. The worst part of the '13 is the plastic license plate surround on the back. Completely unnecessary. Other than that, the '13 is by far my favorite looking muscle car maybe ever.

It's a matter of your opinion of style, and price. I'm sure the '12's are going to get better discounts as the '13's start showing up on the lots.
I went through this when I bought my Mustang a month ago. Went to my dealer to buy a '12 Kona Blue coupe. To keep the price down, I was willing to forgo the premium package. As we walked back into the showroom, I spotted a Race Red, with factory chrome crager looking rims. The sales guy saw me looking (he may have purposely routed me towards it!), and informed me it was a '11 with the premium package, and 3K on the odometer, and thousands less than the '12 I was going to buy; it even came with a pre-owned warranty up to 100K on the drive train on top of the remaining factory warranty. Needless to say, I bought it. It had more features then I was going to buy on the '12.
So, go with what you want. It's good to solicit opinions here, but it's your car, your payments, so buy what you want, and don't go with what others say you should get.

If the comparison is between a "new" 2012 and ordering a 2013...there is a third option: consider a lightly used 2011 that has already depreciated.
Very few changes were made for 2012...and the 2012s even seem to have all of the problems that the '11s had! So basically, you'll take a bigger depreciation hit on the '12 vs. the '11...for an essentially identical car.

I had an 07 GT myself. At that time the bottom was painted, and I liked the look of the black trim or what people call the diaper. I think I will appreciate more when it comes time to wash it. As for the front, personal preference. I must say I like the heat extractors but think there is to much paint up front. What I mean is the lower grille on the 12 seems wider. The front seems to wrap around a bit on the 13. Again, I could just imagine all the bugs and tar and stuff from driving. From what I could tell, Ilike the way you can option a 13 vs. the12. You can get a base model with recaros that nice brembo race package, leather wheel and sync. Probably shoot up the price a bit but nice. Where I live, Columbus Ohio the pricing is pretty tight. Used ones are or were going for the price of new ones basically. One of the dealers locally had had a 11 with 11k miles on it. Carfax said front end collision. Dealer wants about 24k for it. Base with 3.55's. Made an offer about 2 months ago, dealer wouldn't budge car is still there. I placed an order after the rebates went to 3k and will get a new one for about 1700 more. Maybe the other guy will get more motivated on the 11 model but at a certain point , I would rather have have a new one that I know no one beat the *** out of it except me.

I don't want to be flamed, but the GT looks good in 2010-2012 gear, but the 2013 looks meaner with the heat exchangers on the hood. As for my humble V6 'Vert, I think its better with power bulge hood. Gotta love the tail lights on the 13's tho.

As for the topic of the thread I think it makes since to go with the older model because there are more incentives to save with such as cash back or depreciation. I could have waited for the 13s to go on sale but I really do love the front end look of the 11s and 12s plus the dealer went way below MSRP plus the 1500 cash back plus the extra $750 for ordering the brochure. on top of all that I got to order my 12 in the color combo I wanted (sterling gray w lava interior) with all the options I was looking for.
But then again if your taste is for the look of thr 13 then ignore every thing I just said and give the heart what the heart wants

when I heard they were going to add some GT500 ques to the rest of the line, I was pretty stoked. but after seeing them I have to say I am a little disappointed. I think the blacked out grille, rocker skirts, and the lower fascias on the 10-12 look really muscular and jusrt gives it a "fast" look to it. I hate to make the reference, but kind of like the cheese-wedge 93+ camodes. the V6's had body color B-pillars but the Z28's were blacked out and it added a certain flare to the car and it looked better because it had less if that makes sense. it was kinda like it was less class and more @$$.
the 2013 Boss nose absolutely looks CATFISH
if I ever get the chance (read money) to buy a new Boss I will most definitely be searching for a 2012 over a 2013.
I do like the 70 hockey stick style stripe over the 69 C style stripe

Still like the 12 better. The 13 front end just doesn't look right to me. I ordered what I wanted 12 Kona\Saddle MCA. Just waiting on it got a VIN and build week 2-20-12 after order on 12-7-11. Mine just might be the last one built. That would be pretty cool!
