2015-2017 Whipple Gen 4 Stage 1 Supercharger Kit for Sale in Maine
Hey all,
I purchased this kit in late 2019, and finished installing it in 2020 using the Whipple tune. It is part # W175FF. It has about 7,000 miles on it. As far as I know there are no mechanical issues with it, It put down great power, idled well, and was as advertised except for a slight hiccup under slight throttle openings, which is why I ended up removing it. Full disclosure: Overall the car ran great with this kit, except it had a slight RPM fluctuation under slight throttle increases "sometimes." For example, in 3rd gear at 3,000 RPM tapping the gas from about 20% to 30%, just enough to pick up a little speed, the car would act sort of like the ignition was cutting out two or three times in very rapid succession, then would act fine. Looking at the boost gauge on the dash, it seemed to be having a hard time right as it transitioned from vacuum to boost, as if it couldn't decide which way to go. I discussed this at length with Whipple, and exchanged several data logs and calibrations. We even went as far as putting a Palm Beach Dyno calibration on it, which did not solve the issue. In emails, Whipple claimed I have an issue with a cam phaser. I don't know if that's true or not, but I'm the original owner of the car, it had no other modifications, and runs fine without the supercharger installed. I have inspected the supercharger rotors and bearings, and all seem fine. I did shorten the two rubber hoses that connect the fuel rails because I felt they were a chafing hazard due to being so long. The Whipple-supplied spark plugs, injectors, and all other hardware are included, though you may want to invest in some new gaskets.
I am selling this kit as is, at a price that I think is fair. Based on Whipple's reputation, I am pretty confident this kit will work just fine on your car. All in all, there very well could be some small glitch with my car that is causing a compatibility issue. Mine is one of the earlier 2015s, so who knows.
I am willing to drive a few hours to meet up for the sale, but I am not able to package this up for shipment.
Asking price is $4,000.
Thanks!
P.S.: The supercharger is not taped together. It is taped to a piece of 2" thick foam insulation to protect the base as well as the actuator.
Good used supercharger kits are few and far between, this looks like a good deal for someone who can put it to use. Kudos for being up front about the minor issue that you had with it.
I'll ask, because this is probably the first question that a serious buyer would ask: are ALL of the parts from the kit there? Or asking a different way, is anything missing?
Nothing is missing. In fact, I am including modified heater hoses so the new owner won't have to cut theirs. Just disconnect the factor hoses and connect the ones included with this kit. I also have several gallons of antifreeze I'll include for the intercooler system. Also includes a spare belt.
That is One Fantastic Repackaging of Your Take Off Parts! I'm Confused Why You Would Not Go Ahead & Box Up For Shipping. You Certainly Have The Skills To Do So. I Do Know It's a Time Consuming Process to Do Well as I Have Shipped Way Too Many Things in My Day. Anyhoo Just Curious! It Certainly Would Bring More Sales Opportunities!
A Little Tip For You & Maybe I Missed The Info But Unless Somebody is a Member and Logged On They Can't Contact You. We Have A Very Small Pool of Regular Posters Vs a Large Number of Guest Viewers So an email Address in Post is a Good Option!
Good questions,
I figure anyone serious about buying would take the time to create an account. As for shipping, it's heavy and I don't want to have to keep getting estimates for shipping as I'm sure it will be several hundred dollars. Thanks!
