woohoo- last car payment :)
hard to believe the 09 has been here for 5 yrs already- always nice sending that last payment- will make getting parts for the 69 that much easier
hate to say it, but likely my last new mustang... never is a long time I know, and I havent seen the real '15 yet- but it just seems the prices are creeping beyond my justifiable threshold, and the post-09 models just dont have that 'gotta have it' look to my minds eye...
hope ford keeps selling boatloads of them, and hope the '15 is a knockout and changes my mind- time will tell, but till then, plans will shift towards putting 05-up PCM with new front cover for hydraulic cam advance/crank trigger/dual water pumps on the old 11:1 429, that my mom bought in a galaxie when I was 8 yrs old, (promptly wrecked it when I was 16- but rebuilt and kept the motor all these years) just to see what a old bigblock can do on todays EFI and pump gas...
the old 69 will be a noseheavy beast, but think it should be a fun project. I let the 69 sit from fall of 1984 until July of this year, its way passed time to get going on it. my 14 yr old son sounds VERY interested in helping design/machine the parts to make the EFI happen, that makes it a lot more fun

And,....that bigblock will do just fine on EFI and pump gas for sure.

funny thing is, I dunno if I would/could drive it even if the 06 bit the dust somehow...might be tempted to get a used one instead, and leave the 09 as the unintended oddity it kinda became - guessing it may be the only never registered/never driven base model 05-09 mustang gt out there (4.9 miles on the clock).
bet theres a lot of squirreled away Shelbys out there, but basic/no option GTs like our 06&09 werent very common at dealers, and certainly not for 'investor' types hoping to flip them someday... I just loved my 06 so much, wanted a identical 'spare', same car/same payment, so didnt ever 'miss it'- but, now dont know if I'd even want to drive it...
kinda a waste of a neat car, but unless the garage falls on it, it should still be mint indefinitely. I tend to keep cars forever, if I get another 10-15 years out of the 06, great...maybe by then clean used ones might be getting hard to find and the 09 will see the light of day- unless of course the garage falls on it or i kick the bucket... for now, just feels good not having a car payment
