missed its birthday again... 19 years ikd already???
12/17 marked 19 years this Mustangs been around, my how time flies... this summer my youngest ran it in autocross a bunch, I dove my challenger...he started out like 10 seconds behind me on a 90 second course, now maybe 2 seconds... kids are quick
Ive only drove it a few times this summer, only put 1000 miles on it, mostly son driving to/from the track a hour away... still gotta say its the best car ive ever owned, its been driven cross country, taught wife, several friends, 3.5 sons to drive stick (one can, but had zero interest in driving a manual), countless test and tune nights at the strip, and 4-5 years autocross abuse- we run out at dragway 42, their autocross aint a sea of cones, but a 60-70mph cone obstructed 'road course' of about 1-1.5 miles, its intense...the cars never balked a bit... did go to EBC red and Hawk HPS pads, stainless braided hoses(huge improvement in brake feel- rubber caliper hoses must really balloon under heavy braking), replaced control arms a few years ago as rubber degrading,, was eating insides off front tires, changed to 1/4" toe in, theyre wearing great now and turn in feels better... a clutch, a alternator, a 09 takeoff shifter, and a canned 93 tune/4.10 gears, no major issues at all and its been flogged regularly at the tracks... i did change to 5w30 oil long agpo, and at 36k got the tuner, bumped idle up to 850, oil pressures as new, never heard a peep of phaser issues, have cut oil filters regularly, never any sign of anything in the filter... been a very very durable car for as hard as its been ran...will admit i dropped rev limiter to 5750when i got the tuner too, many run 6250-6500 even, lots of power up there, but seems risky to me... its fast enough for plenty of fun times
ive posted a bit about my wifes health challenges, and man has it been a rollercoaster... heart failure had her scheduled for a LVAD implant, thankfully she declined 2 days before surgery and came home...was walking 3-4 miles a day within a couple weeks...hearts still terrible according to tests, but shes doing normal...unfortunately cancers back, carcinomatosis is a kinda progression from the stage 4 ovarian they got under control before the heart failure came about- that was due to cancer getting into one lung...now on mistletoe injections and ivermectin on top of the chemo and its responding even better than last year...we go back for tests on the 3rd, fingers crossed CA125 will be way down, it dropped by 50% last month which after it doubling every 3 weeks for 8 months was pretty incredible...anyways we had a really great Christmas eve/Christmas, houseful both days, everyone happy/healthy, it dont get no better than that
recent rains cleared the roads, took my challenger for a ride today, been mothballed about a month since they started with salt, came home to take the mustang out, dead battery- its charging now, tomorrows looking good... maybe the wife can get hers out tomorrow too, she only drove hers once this summer with all she was going thru...but she enjoys it too
heres to a happy/healthy 2025... hopefully will be able to post a 20th birthday next year- seems crazy, as its still a 'new' car to me LOL... kinda doubt the new dodge will last like this 06 has, time will tell
one more pic, 3rd oldest son suggested redoing a old family pic 16 yrs later... yeah that toddler the wifes holding in bottom pic. is driving it now...my how time flies
My 19 year old BD is coming in December. I can't believe that almost 20 years have gone by. I strapped my little guy in the back seat of the showroom 2007 GT/CS, it was white with black stripes and the sales guy jumped in and off we went. My son was only 5 at the time, but said he had fun. Came back from the ride, and ordered a Vista Blue GT/CS, which was built in Dearborn and delivered in December 2006. Almost 19 years later, only 3700 miles and it sits on battery charger in my garage. My son now almost 23 has his eye on this car. I said fine, when you turn
40!
I know I get a beating from everybody. My mechanic gives it to me every year. he takes care of all the family cars now, and this one just gets inspection and annual oil change. from 24-25 I only put on 14 miles, the distance back and forth to the station. he is a car guy and is like dude drive this thing! I know always an excuse family stuff projects so the car doesn't get its day in the sun. My bad I say this every year but time is flying. I will take this out when I have time even just to blow out the exhaust.. And of course give it a bath.
