Thanks for the congragts I drove my truck to work today but "Left" my briefcase in the trunk of the Mustang and had to come home and get it. Of course I had to drive the Mustang back to work. Took the camera with me and stopped in front of a winery for a pic. The sun was just right. This color is great but in the sun it is AWESOME Our '69 is ford's Candyapple Red, we only have 83K miles on it. I posted two more pics. Motor has never been touched except for water pump and tune ups. 351 winsor, FMX, PS, PDB and it still runs great. We love the new Mustang because it looks like the 67-70 fastback. We also have a Red 64 1/2 coupe and a 89 GT Vert. So the new one will not be lonly. We drive our Mustangs all over, check out our web site: www.goldenhillsmustangclub.com If you don't belong to a Mustang club you should consider it. Also check out 95SVTCobraVA, Tony has a link to his site. This 06 is the best Mustang ever built! Hope you get your new Vista Blue very soon. You will love it!!!

Mustangdans-
heres a pic of my old one- hopefully the new one will bring back some of the old mustang desire and I'll finally get off my *** and get started on it. I plan on a RRS coilover strut frontend(or similar) to cut down on shock tower stress(springs only half the force when pushing inline with the balljoint instead of the middle of the A-arm) and a cheep resfresh of my old 69 429 police motor with a C6...that was the plan back in 84~85 when it went in the garage, but you know how life can change your plans at times...someday soon hopefully I'll finally start on it- its got 62k on it, but I ditched the 302-2v to commit myself to the bigblock conversion loooong ago.

question- why didnt ya order a torch red twin to match your old one?
I was really hoping for acapulco blue, but vistas still closer than sonic, so I'll take it (actually was originally going to order sonic05, but you know how 05 orders went...think i like this a little better anyway- no purpleish tint at all- however sonic in the sun does look sharp!)

the mustang looks ok still, but it needs a boatload of work now. letting a car sit is way way worse than driving it.

the other car was a gift from a neighbor - 65 gal ltd...long story here:

Now I see why you have ford4v429. Great looking '69 Wife and I agree that the '69 Fastback is our favorite Mustang of all time. After all these years it still makes our heart beat a little faster. When they brought out the new Mustang we knew we had to have one. At first I wanted a redfire but wife wanted the blue one. I was upset when they dropped sonic blue, but after seeing Vista blue in person I was hooked. We have a Rangoon red 64 1/2 coupe and deep shadow Blue '89 Gt Vert, so now we have two red and two blue mustangs. It was funny yesterday, had the new one in the driveway and the mailman got out and had to look at it. He said he knew we would buy one when they first came out. Reminded him of our '69.
I read your story about the neighbors '65, i am very impressed. Lot of work but it was a lobor of love. Your kids will remember what you did. Good Job!!

Used Meguiars NXT. Great stuff, I highly recomend it. And yeah, I'm glad I went with the Vista. My wife has a silver car and it never looked as good as the Stang.

drove home from florida yesterday/thismorning- picked it up on the way home...1100 miles, no sleep, sign the papers, put 42 miles on it(salty) washed it top and bottom moved the 69 out, was going to por15 some underneath, but gotta sleep...still nervous, face sore from grinning- man is this a drivers car. next few days are supposed to be snow, will try to get it all sealed up...lots of bare metal underneath. then to put some miles on(being gentle...didnt get much over 3000 momentarily today, didnt get to floor it yet, but not easy to keep that right foot still...man the exhaust sounds great.

Congrats! From the picture, Vista and acapulco blue look relatively close. Is acapulco is a little lighter?

At certain angles Vista is not all that dark, but it is a lot darker than acapulco(still my favorite color). If you have the standard windows color scheme, for a shade reference- I'd say vista is like extreme left at top of your screen, acapulco 75% to the right hand side...acapulco is a much 'brighter blue tint', but shade wise is probably a little closer to windveil than vista.
I still cannot get over seeing them sitting side by side- always thought the 05 looked '67-69-ish' but not really...funny, they both look like mustangs, but they look so different side by side...I now see why the aftermarket rear louvers look so different from the 69's- square top corners would make shaping a formed set difficult at best. seeing them side by side was like parking my 93 f150 beside a new truck- new ones have huge wheels/tires compared to old ones, rear end sits WAY higher, etc...all the rear seat worries are OK- once I got the seats where I wanted them, the kids have plenty of room in the back- 2 of them anyways...still want to add a 3rd seatbelt and make up a booster pad to drop in and cover the hump for emergencies in case the van breaks down(son from first marriage not always with us, so normally not a problem). the kids are short enough headroom not an issue, (for another couple years anyway)and it looks as wide as my Mark VII so think theyll fit OK if need be. Not sure about adding center shoulder harness- might be able to fold seats fwd, pull belt overtop, bolted to something under pkg tray...will need to weld in a reinforcement though(I think)...getting ahead of myself again...still excited.
