This is just my opinion, but I believe the Tungsten color that we've been viewing of the 2004 auto show Mustang is not the same color that we'll see in production.

In the attached article, It mentions that Tungsten SILVER will be a limited edition color for the Ford GT. The GT and the Mustang, I believe were painted in this color for auto show effect. I personally viewed the 06 color chips at a Ford dealer and the color is listed as Tungsten GREY not SILVER, and it's not limited by any means- several Ford vehicles will be painted in Tungsten grey. Vista blue will be exclusive to the Mustang. The pics that Amy shot and the 04 auto show pics do not look like the same color, even when you take into consideration indoor/outdoor lighting.

Again, just my opinion, for what it's worth.

sorry, I couldn't attach the Ford article; just go to the Ford website and do a search re: the Ford GT. The article talks about the 2006 GT featuring Tungsten SILVER as a limited edition color.

They can call it whatever they want...if the colour codes match, they are the same.

Check out the Ford GT and Mustang order guides and see if they are the same. That will answer your question.

Just to get you started
Ford Mustang GT Tungsten Gray - T8
Ford GT Tungsten 'Silver -

and found this quote just to open it up a bit,

The Tungsten is also available on the Taurus and Crown Vic as "Tungsten Clearcoat Metalic" and is available on the Fusion as "Tungsten Silver Clearcoat Metalic" but all three Tungsten colors have the same order code, T8

Interesting to say the least.

Im not to particular on the EXACT tungsten color.
I think both the cars in tungsten look like what I want.
Major factor is keeping it clean, I think its the easiest color to maintain.
And it looks sweet! (in any color)

Judging from the 2005 GT Order Guide (2005 Ford GT Order Guide), the GT's silver (TL) is not the same code as the Mustang GT's Tungsten (T8):

That's because Tungsten is a GRAY not a SILVER

TL is quicksilver/satin silver
T8 is Tungsten/Titanium

Exactly, I was just checking the two order guides as you had suggested above.

I think the important clarification is whether the Detroit Auto Show "Titanium" color is indeed the same color as the new '06 Mustang GT "Tungsten Grey". It was primarily those picture that sold me on the color.

TL vs T8.

Really curious to see Tungsten in person or with some good pics. I think sunlight, stripes, car show lights, etc can be very deceiving.

Time will tell. If it looks flat grey I'm going to be pissed.

Dane, aka "paint boy" checked for me- the paint codes for the "limited edition" tungsten on the '06 GT and tungsten grey on the '06 Mustang are the same paint code.

So - to be crystal clear - does this mean the color in this picture ("Titanium" Grey as seen in the Chicago Auto Show) is the same as the '06 Mustang GT "Tungsten Grey"?

But wait a sec. The paint panel on the right has ONE code but THREE names. Tungsten, Tungsten grey and Tungsten silver. whats up with that?

Yes, they are all the same. End of story.

Ford can call the colour 1000 different names.
Just look at the paint code.

We all understand the a single color code can have multiple color names.

I would like to know definitively (from a Ford source) how the Tungsten color relates to the color of the vehicle at the car show. NolanzDad above said paintboy reports them as the same paint code. Looking at the two pics side-by-side, allowing for the difference between the auto show lights in the former and daylight in the latter, these colors do look very similar.

I too will be pissed if Tungsten is closer to Mineral Grey than the car show Titanium but it sounds like same paint code = same color.

a paint color can have a number of different names, it's the code number that designates they're all the same.

In my opinion, every pic of the production Tungsten Grey I have seen to date looks absolutely nothing like the original show car. This latest side by side comparison is probably the worst one of all. I would bet that the show car was painted quicksilver/satin silver (TL) to complement the GT on display. I know only time will tell, but I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of disappointed customers when these production cars start rolling off the assembly line next week.
