Tungsten Purple
#1
Last week I ordered a Tungsten Grey GT without ever seeing the color in person. I'd only seen pics where it always looked dark silver or grey, and since it's called Tungsten Grey I figured it was grey. This week I saw a Tungsten Grey Mustang on the street and it was purple, or really more of a lavender metallic. So now I'm in the process of trying to change the order.
Why would Ford call this color Tungsten Grey when it's purple? Not cool.

...and this is an interior and audio problem how?
I've seen Tungsten, and I didnt see a purple hue to it. My car is a dark silver, and you can notice a small purple hue on it when the sun hits it pretty hard.
I think you saw the reflection of a setting sun combined with the metallic grey of Tungsten, which made it seem a bit purple.

Tungsten Grey IS grey until the light hits it the right way... and then it shows purple hues. Of course when I look at my Mineral Grey I'm still trying to find the right conditions for it to actually look grey...

I took my wife to a local Ford dealer a couple of weeks ago, and we looked at a variety of mustangs. When she saw the Tungsten, she said that looks "feminine", because it was "purplely". I just busted out laughing, because of all the threads I've read on here about shades of purple in the Tungsten.
For the record, I don't think Tungsten is "feminine", but my wife's comment convinced me that it was not the color for me.
Now Sonic Blue on the other hand, that is a really purple color!

The lavender remark is nothing new. Tungsten Grey is NOT grey. Up close you can see the red and blue flakes in the paint.
Either way, search on "lavender" and you'll find plenty of threads on Tungsten.

Umm.. ok so you ordered a car before you even saw the color?
Well that was a great idea.
darn Ford those bastards! They should have known you were going to order before you saw it!
I for one am going to lodge a serious (and I mean serious) complaint regarding this.
Waaaah.... somebody call the waaaaaah...mmm bulance!

I saw it for the first time at the dealership. it was noonish and the sun was out..it was very purple in the sun. I'm glad I didnt' wait to get it instead of getting an 05 satin silver. I would rather have my car look better when it's brighter out..not vice versa..any tint of purple is feminine in my opinion but to those who have it and like it well kudos to them.

Tungsten (the metal) has a purple hue to it from certain angles as well. I assume that's why Tungsten (the color) also does. Take your concerns up with the earth's crust.

i agree...I wasn't that happy when I saw a V6 with the tungsten and it had slight purple tinge to it, but hey it gives the car a different look...and I still ordered the color.
