Now that our car has finally gotten here we have a small problem. We know we're getting Shelby stripes but we can't decide on bumper extensions or color. White was the obvious choice, but grey was mentioned by our salesman as something just a little bit different. I looked at Rampant's stripe selector and am going to the board for suggestions.
I probably won't see any post until tommorow

Sonic Blue is one of my favorites, too. I recently visited the Shelby American factory in Las Vegas, and they had several 427 Cobras in their showroom painted in the traditional blue with white stripes. On the Cobra at least, the color combination is just outstanding. I have considered the '05 Mustang done in these colors with Halibrand wheels to mimic the Cobras, but some photoshops I have seen just look too....gaudy, I guess. It is so hard to judge a color combo with just an image or chop to go by. I do think that a light grey (or silver) stripes would compliment the grey interior nicely, and not be as garrish as white, but it is possible that white stripes would look great also. Again, it is just a matter of personal preference. The Sonic Blue does need something, however. It doesn't really move me without some accent. Maybe rocker stripes are enough? If you don't stripe the bumpers, stop the stripes an inch or so short of the leading edges of the hood and trunk lid, and maybe round the corners a bit to show that the stripes end there intentionally. Otherwise, the stripes looks unfinished. Check the photoshop section for pics of color combos. There are a lot of talented people here modifying cars!

I'd go with white stripes.

I would wait to see someone else do it though b/c I'm just not sure how the stripes will clash with that shade of blue. It might look purple and white at times. I'm sure we will see loads of striped cars showing up on Ebay this year.

For me, it's got to be white stripes on the Sonic Blue. The stark contrast is what grabs me. While the silver's and the grey's look good too, the white is the only one I would consider.

Also, if it were my car, I would definitely stripe it bumpers and all. I also would most likely stripe the rocker panels as well with the sport package-type stripe or something similar.

But hey, maybe that's just me.

I am torn between the same thing. They both look extremely nice on the Sonic Blue. Too bad they weren't easy to install. I would just buy both and switch them out every once in a while

Now theres an idea - anyone want to join a business opportunity to manufacture stripes out of a magnetic material?
...I'm getting some ideas on how to market these.

I would go with the white. It is more deciding on the width that seems troublesome. They come in 8 inch, 10 inch and 12 inches wide. I am currently undecided on wether to add the bumper extensions or not. But that is just me....

I prefer the stripes all the way down. I would personallly lean toward white, but any you've mentioned would look great.

One big problem with magnetic stripes will be the non magnetic materials that the stripes will not 'adhere' to such as aluminum, carbon fiber, fiberglass, plastics commonly found in such items as the hood and roof and trunk panels.

The white looked so good in the stripe painter that if I liked Sonic Blue a little more, I would change my order!
Hey Carroll's favorite Shelby is a blue '66 with white stripes that's in his collection.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead for one more day. Then it dies until we get the stripes.

you know.... just lookin' in the paint striper, if I were goin' with 2 stripes I'd do a white, but see about it being pearlized. I think that would be slick. If you're thinkin' silver, then check out the 3 stripe config in the striper.... one really wide stripe with 2 accent stripes..... I like that in silver much better.
