Andrew Casey's Cancer Battle
Kevin
It was and still is my pleasure. I've no doubt the man your son had grown to be was a direct reflection of the man his father IS.
I'm happy I could do anything that might help to give him even a little joy, so as far as I'm concerned YOU deserve MY thanks for letting me have the opportunity.
My only request would be that if you all do end up going to and participating in car shows....if somehow you end up doing more than just ones 'in your neighborhood', I'd be honored to be able to possibly hook up with you if you ended up considering branching out and venturing into shows in other states. I live in Kansas City, Missouri and would love the opportunity to be able to park next to andrew's car and meet you personally at some point (and would honestly consider it an honor).
Take care of yourself and your family Kevin. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Kevin,
I have been away from here for some time, but heard about this and wanted to offer by condolences to you and the rest of your family. Having ordered stuff from you in the past and knowing you are a stand up guy, I can only imagine the values you installed in your son. He is in a better place now and as you said, will always be with you.

Kevin and Family, and by Family I want to address everyone here at The Mustang Source-
I just got off the phone with a vendor who went above and beyond and sent Andrew a Christmas gift from his wish list. Mothers Polish and products from California sent Andrew a care package on my behalf and I spoke with Shane this afternoon, he extended his condolenses and thoughts and prayers for the Casey Family.

I know he is following this thread and wanted him and his organization to know how much not I but the entire community who uses and will continue to use the products he promotes for a living thru out this entire community and not just from a retail prospective. Shane, I thank you and I shake your hand. I will someday meet you and remember you made a difference and this entire online community makes a difference as well. I mentioned a thank you card, on my behalf and I want the Casey Family to know they are in our thoughts and prayers as we move thru this time of loss together we will become stronger as an extended family and will continue to support Andrew and his family.
Kevin, I am here for you and will continue for whatever I can provide. I thank you once again and who knows, maybe Shane Christman from Mothers may become a member of The Mustang Source...

I took strength today in your positive posts.
The Last day of the year Andrews condition started going down hill I could sense he was really starting to hurt. It was late afternoon and I wanted to perk him up so I asked him if he wanted to go for a ride in the 72. He really enjoyed when we were driving under a freeway overpass and I would throw it in neutral and rev it up, The Echo sounded awesome! We drove for a bit and ended up by our Friends glass shop. We had ordered a windshield for Andrews 72. It was cracked big time and was simply waiting for an opportune time to get it installed.
It so happened he had a customer flake on an appointment and he had time to do it right then and there. We left the car and I planned on picking it up first thing in the A.m. So it would be available for Andrew if he wanted to take a drive. It drove ok but the Transmission was acting up so I got it home to do some adjustments.
Also his cam is so radical it did not have enough vacuum to operate the Brake Booster correctly. I really wanted him to be able to drive and stop the car so I started playing with some additional Vacuum Resiviors to extend the Reserve of Vaccum. I was having some success when the car started to have a ton of blowby out the valve cover. I knew this was not good.
It was news years eve and I agonized over weather or not to say anything to Andrew.I just did not want to give him any bad news. I started pulling plugs to do a compression check and found coolant on the plugs. I suspected we had head gasket problems. We had used a special steel Head gasket vs the Fel pro's I normally use in an attempt to raise the compression a bit. Something went wrong. I bit the bullitt and broke the news to Andrew. I played it down and told him I could probably fix it easy enough weather permitting. It was getting dark & cold so I called it an evening.
The wife reminded me that since The Daytona was down getting the Floor pan repaired Andrew was sans either of his cars once again. I was just whipped but could not accept that we were back to this again. I hopped in the car went to Harbor Frieght and bought a small Heater, Some Warm Gloves and a couple of good drop lights. I went in the house put on double everyting and proceeded to tear the engine down in the driveway. As suspected the Head gasket was not sealing. I was just too tired to go any further after that and called it a night again.
The weather did not permit anymore work for the next couple of days and then we were out of time to properly fix either of the cars due to Andrews needing constant care from both of us.
After all the planning for Andrews Car Guy Funeral I realized he did not have one of his cars to be there. We had discussed and accepted that and would simply use Sarah's Fairlane as he drove that car for two Years and was as much his as Sarah's . It seemed like a totally acceptable solution.
As I read today some of the great things posted about me being a great Dad I realized I have a tall order to live up to and got thinking if they believe in me why shouldn't I. So Since I do not have time to do the job the way it should be. I will simply do what I have to do so the Daytona Can Drive regardless of how the Interior looks.
I put all the Floor Plugs back in. Used some Steel Tape for The Big spots. Made a Floor Patch out of card board & Aluminum Foil for the Drivers well which was the worst. Put the Seats & Shifter In ,Put floor Mats over the Chaos & we will call it good. All I got left is to tighten The Steering Wheel, Put in Two Seatbelts and she is driveable. I feel a whole lot better about having his dream Car lead the Procession and it's Thanks to your Support. I needed the encouragement cause I am running on autopilot half the time.
It was kind of nice getting out in the Garage and getting to it. I did real well just focusing on the Task at hand until I needed a tool & could not find it. As I have done a thousand times I just go over to Andrews Tool Box & see if He has the Needed Item. As I started to look I see all the Decals Perfectly Placed on his tool Box most of which I have been giving him since he was a young teen. The Memories simply overwhelm me to tears. I expect this will happen on occasion for a long time to come. Certain Things just trigger the Floodgates. After that I had to call it a day and will finish Tommorrow.
I just wanted to share this and let you know your comments are truly appreciated and helpful.

Amen !! Well said, Bill. Andrew will never be forgotten. It's not goodbye forever, just "so long" for now.
