anyone know of a good car cover for indoor storage? I will be storing my car in the garage over the winter (about 5-6 months) and don't need a thick outdoor cover. Just something to keep dust off the car and that won't scratch the paint.

****** 'em up, people. This thing is great!! Keeps the car clean and dry even in an overnight thunderstorm; almost as good as having a garage.

I have a CarCapsule for my '79TA and I absolutely love it! You can find them at www.CarCapsule.com. It prevents condensing humidity, keeps out bugs, mice, and prevents scratches. And the BEST thing about the CarCapsule is you can SEE your car while you have it stored! I have a picture of my car in my CarCapsule that I can post for you later this evening when I get home (gotta get it off of the digital camera). Get one, you'll love it, and everone who sees it will think it is TOTALLY COOL!

Mike and Dan the cover really shows up the lines well here's my mustang under cover with the ford car cover for comparison ,as you can see the lines show up well!
That looks like a nicer cover than the other pics (license window, etc.). How's the quality? What's the price?

That is a good question for a real problem. If it is not raining (at least not too heavily) in the morning, I pass a large sponge over the car cover to push off the heavy water, then I do what I always do with it---I drag it off the 2005 and drape it over the car cover on the 1965 Mustang in my garage, where it air dries during the day and is ready to put back on at night.

The 2005 is parked in a covered garage downtown all day while I am at work.

here is a question I've been pondering. can you put on the cover if the car is not totally clean?? will the dirt remain on the inside of the cover.?will this scratch the paint?..I believe in a clean car but there is no possible way I can clean it every day..I've got enough stress in my life.

Kevin, can you tell us or post a better picture of the underside of the cover. Is it soft like felt? just nylon? How thick is it (3ply? how thick is that?)? etc.

I tried to skim the whole post for this kind of info and apologize if I missed it somewhere.

Also, if you don't mind please PM me a current price quote for the cover?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Chuck & Sean: The underside of the cover is not felt, it is a white version of the outer silver material. I generally do not cover the car when it is dirty; I leave it uncovered until I can wash it, then resume covering it. Concerned about getting the underside dirty then scratching the paint.

Kevin: Thanks for remembering me. We have been displaced from our home by Hurricane Katrina for 2 weeks today, and will continue to be for another week or longer. I am in a little town called Erath, LA, south of Lafayette. All family members are safe, but some didn't fare well at all with their homes.

My house is OK, no flooding or structural damage that I am aware of yet but I haven't been able to do a thorough inspection. We were allowed into the area this week, and we made 2 trips---one to grab clothes and essentials and one to clean out some really nasty refrigerators and freezers at my and my Dad's house. That equipment is ruined and will have to be replaced, but at least the source of the smell is now out of the houses.

My fence is down, my shed is gone, there is debris everywhere (twisted sheet metal, boards, roofing and fence nails, etc.). But my oldest sister, dad and me are blessed---my middle sister and my niece suffered major damage to their homes which will be uninhabitable for months. My in laws also had 8-10 feet of water in their house in St. Bernard Parish--it is likely a total loss. My stepdaughter was living with her in-laws while building a house---the in-laws home was flooded and will need to be rebuilt; her stuff in storage was also flooded so she's lost most everything except the cash in the bank from selling her previous house.

I did take the 2005 Mustang with me, and got the 1965 out to safety where it will remain for a few months until we can get things back to normal. My job is temporarily relocated to Baton Rouge, so I'll be commuting for a while. Don't know when (or if) we will get back in to our offices in downtown N.O., right next to the Superdome and the Hyatt Regency hotel that had all the windows blown out. The city is under quarantine due to health reasons for the foreseeable future.

Since my home will rebound fairly quickly, once they let us back in (Jefferson Parish where I live was placed under lockdown Thursday evening 9/8/05 at 6 p.m., no one can get in until further notice and if you stayed you can't drive around, only emergency vehicles; we left due to lack of power, water and sewerage)---we will soon be taking in 8 family members who are now homeless.

Unexpected out of pocket living expenses are starting to mount, so we really need to get back home soon. Longer term concern is the uninsurable loss of market value of our home; structural and flood damage is covered, loss of value is not and we have all taken a huge hit to our property values due to this storm.

This event is not merely an inconvenience; this is one of those "defining moments" that will alter the course of all of our lives, forever. The emotional and physical turmoil and disruption are hard to describe. And I am one of the more fortunate and blessed; many people have suffered far greater than me, in so many ways. But none of our lives will ever be the same.

It will be a long road back. Your prayers and encouragement are appreciated.

Special thanks to Jay Thorpe who has been emailing me to offer prayer, encouragement and support. A real Christian, a great American, a loyal Mustanger, and a true friend. Thank you, Jay. Mike

Thanks, Alex, that is so appreciated. We also appreciate your service and that of the other men and women sacrificing and serving all around the world.

What I wrote above is only the tip of the iceberg; I didn't want to burden people with lengthy stories or sound like a whiner. But unless you have personally experienced something like this, you cannot begin to fathom what those affected are going through. I know I couldn't, until now.

Thanks again. Mike

Mike sorry to hear about you situation at least all of your family members are safe and you still have a job to go to .My prayes go out to you and your family.....

On a side note we are sand bagging up here ,Gimili a small town and Winnipeg beach ....both expect water levels to rise by 4 feet in the next few weeks ,8 million dollars is going to be spent on this but it won't be enough the towns are lower then the lake wall that surrounds them and from what I can see this will flood the towns .

With global warming things are only going to get worse Mike this may sound hard but please get what you can for your place and don't look back ,it will only happen again .

Save the gas, try a leaf blower . You'd have to drive way past the computer limited maximum speed to get the same effect !
Yes the blower works great. If I had a gas one I would hook it up to the TB for a poor mans supercharger.
