Well man Ford has a lot of bad memories to repair. Any of the poor SOB's that bought a tempo or Taurus back in the day will probably never look to Ford for another vehicle. Lol

Working for independent shops on all lines really made me realize how these things were built. Still truly believe that GM does a better job but Ford is definitely improving in the last 5 years or so.
I drove a 2001 Suburban of course. Or at least the wife did. Then when it came time I drive the 2007 Expedition XLT And hated it. Drove the 2008 Suburban and hated it even more. Couldn't find a thing to like about it. So got the Eddie Bauer Expedition and the features made up for the fact it was a land yacht. But that Expedition was loads better than that Suburban from motor, to transmission, to seats, to steering, to brakes. It wasn't perfect but it was better. It felt like my 06 truck.

I really don't like that new body Tahoe and Suburban. We still have an 03 that has been fantastic. The wife drove a few newer ones and said she wants to keep hers. They went backwards a little I believe. I don't like the latest generation C series trucks either.

Had 2. One went 150k+ and the other Taurus went almost 200k with no problems.

Well there we agree on that.

That 2001 Z71 in all black was a beautiful vehicle. Looked like black ops Fed kind of stuff. Blacked out windows. Put a 8" woofer under the front console right where it met the dash.

+1.

Also, I think I read somewhere that the 2008-2011 Focus is a car with the lowest number of problems in the USA after three years of ownership.

I love the looks of Focus SES.

One of the best years for GM trucks also. Those things are fantastic.

I had a 1991 Taurus sedan 3.0L V6. Sold it to a junkyard few years ago because there was just too much rust on it.
Engine had 145,000 miles on it, never had any mechanical issues.

A friend of mine had a Ford Tempo and Mercury Topaz when we were in high school. Both lasted him over 200,000+ miles.

I am on a Ford site so I understand the bias. I'm going by personal observation as a professional mechanic for many years and having worked on just about every line of vehicle. Each domestic manufacturer does certain things better than the other. I know of Chrysler K cars that went over 200k miles. It's all about how you treat them to a certain extent. But when you treat a car like total crap and that bastard won't quit, that's when you find out what was built to last. If you keep your car for two or three years and trade it back in, sure buy a focus.

Lol. Kinda. Toyota has had their share of engine problems in recent years though. Lots of motors sludging up and failing. Not sure if they resolved this issue yet.

I understand if don't like cars but... Ford makes amazing fast fords and most of them are hot hatches. The 2002-04 svt focus is one of the best 3 door fords ever made. The focus has been one of the best selling cars on the planet for nearly 10 years.

Not counting the Freestyle/Taurus X, I believe it is. (Or it could be the Focus. I can't remember which one stopped production first, somewhere around 2004 maybe?)
