When should we expect to see another supercar from Ford?

I'm curious since all of the awesome concepts were scratched. Including the beautiful Shelby GR-1. What will be next? Will we have to wait another forty years just to see yet another iteration of the GT or does Ford pack something up it's sleave?

You won't see another supercar from Ford until after the decade is over, as the earliest. At least until the turnaround plan has been achieved and the red ink stops running. Even in their current situation, I am so happy Ford made the GT. It is an amazing car, and it will go down in history as one of THE best exotic cars ever.

I really don't know why they spend time and money on concepts if they're not gonna build them.

Brand awareness. Whether the practice is as cost-effective as other means is moot, but thats why they make 'em.

But wouldn't they get even more credit for being the company that went through with an awesome concept, and not just drop it like any other company would?

Seriously, who else would produce the GR-1 and the Shelby Cobra Concept? No one would do both. If Ford did, think of the image that would show for the marque, even if they made them in extremely low numbers then they could just sell them for more, not seeing the downside.

Does anyone really believe that manufacturing costs of any car is actually at the price you pay? The ratio is even more to auto makers advantage when the car is A) in high demand B) in low quantity C) has history. The two mentioned concepts have all three of those characteristics.

I don't think anyone who has the 250K to buy a marked up GT wouldn't spend that on a newer car with greater (Cobra) or same (GR-1 Daytona Coupe) heritage and public awareness. Cobras are easily the most recognized sports car, and Daytona Coupes were the thing to beat in thier prime. Since the GT has stopped production why wouldnt people be interested in these newer concepts rather than the almost too retro GT (Production is over, correct? I've been gone a while)

Just my two cents.

The GT production is just about over. They stop in August for the US cars, and September for the Canadian cars. I do so wish that Ford would have came out with the GR-1. It would have been as big of a hit as the GT, if not more.
