Spied! 2012 Ford Fiesta ST

While there is some debate about the engine that will motivate the ST, we’re pretty certain this Fiesta will sport a 2.0-liter powerplant.

Certainly far better looking than the current Focus, which has devolved into quite a toad of a car, aesthetically. This should be a quite capable alternative to a Mini Cooper S. My guess, motor wise, would be an Egoboost :-) 1.6 with perhaps 180-200hp -- with the size of that intercooler, perhaps the 200hp guess would be more accurate.
Looks like some very interesting sporting rides will filling in the smaller end of the Ford model line in the next year or two.

That's pretty friggin' hot!
Now, how about a hatchback 2015 Stang...
Doesn't mean there isn't a market for the 3 door...
Yes to everything but your last sentence lol
Maybe this whole "hatchbacks gives Americans hives" thing is overblown.I could never really understand this aversion to any and all hatchbacks -- I've owned a few in my day and have found them to be a fantastic combination of form and function. In any case, maybe the 5-door Fiesta's great success (60% share) will cause Ford to reconsider the 3-door and other, future hatchback variants.

Update . . .

Fast-forward a few months without any news on a possible Fiesta ST, and now Autocar is reporting that a hopped-up ST Fiesta is indeed confirmed for 2012.
As Leftlane had suggested all along based on inside sources privy to such matters, the Fiesta ST is expected to use a turbocharged – or EcoBoosted as Ford would prefer we say – version of the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder than churns out 120 horsepower when it isn’t being force-fed air. Autocar believes that the Fiesta ST will boast about 180 horsepower, but don’t rule out power figures as high as 200.
Although not confirmed, expect a six-speed manual to finally make its way onto the Fiesta for this application, while the six-speed dual-clutch automatic Ford offers in the standard car may or may not be available.
