Question Should we sell our Ford Escape?

'02 Ford Escape XLT. White, V6/auto/FWF, alloy wheels, good condition, only 60K miles.

KBB says $12,500. We haven't driven it 500 miles this whole year. Not once this month, and we're still paying insurance. Meanwhile, it's ugly and is taking up space in our driveway.

And at a local car show yesterday, there was a maroon, '71 Mustang 302 converible for $8500obo. 20/20 car. I told my mom we should sell the Escape and buy something like that. She's hesitant. What do you guys think?

If it's ugly, why did you bought it in the first place?

I doubt you will get $12,500. I've seen new Escapes advertised on TV for as little as $13,500.

That's what the Blue Book says. It cost $27,000 brand new. Wee bought it 5 years ago, specifically, March 25th '02.

I still see ones like ours $10,000-up. Are you sure you didn't switch 2 for 1, because most new, loaded Escapes seem to be $25-up.

2007 Ford Escape MSRP $19,320 - $26,380

2002 Ford Escape KBB $10,700 - $12,250

sounds like a good idea to me, ford escape for a mustang.

If you've driven it less than 500 miles in the whole year it is just taking up space. It could be a great car for someone who would use it.

If you're not happy with it sell it, I always advocate owning cars that make you happy.

Exactly. Aside from a habitually-self-flattening passenger front tire, it's in fine condition. A 10/60 car- looks new from 10 feet, drive new to 60mph.

There's NO mechnical problems, only a few cosmetic defects, and all but one of those are in the inside.

If you're not happy with it sell it, I always advocate owning cars that make you happy.
Hello '67-'73 V8 Mustang or '68-'70 V8 Javelin.

Utility vehicles are handy little things to have. I keep one for DD because I just don't trust people around here to take my stang out everyday and leave it places. On top of that, think of the damage a xmas tree would do on top of a Mustang, or lumber, or...well you get the picture.

If you're going to get a vintage Mustang to only have it sit in the driveway where the Escape sits now, don't bother. Why ruin a nice car?

If you have needs from time to time to carry stuff or whatever, keep the Escape. If not, go with your self indulgence, just make sure you take care of it.

That's the thing - WE DON'T NEED AN SUV.

We already have a Mercury Mountaineer, And a Chevy 2500 pickup, and then our neighbors/my uncle & aunt have another SUV and a newer Mustang. We have everything we need but something cool.
