While I think Ford should build another supercar, it would be nice if they Focused on the other end of the market. Think how well a properly executed Focus RS or even a SVT Fiesta could reflect on the company along with a much-improved Mustang. At least that's my .02 cents.

Kind of to tag onto hi5.0's thought, do a "super car," but instead of the usual mega motor in some mega chassis, how about doing one that strives not only for outright performance, but accomplishes that through light weight, advanced technologies, low emissions and high economy.
Low production halo cars are hard to justify in objective terms, but perhaps trotting it out to the suits and beancounters as a technology demonstrator/showpiece for the 21st century might just gain some traction.
Imagine a carbon and aluminum framed sports car with some Nth degree Ecotech motor, DCT and whatnot, but in a <2,500lb car with <.30 aerodynamics that not only scorches the 1/4 mile deep in the 12 second range, but also gets 35-40mpg on the highway and ultralow emissions?

Indeed it does, and perhaps a sort of super Lotus might be a perfect fit for the times, though Lotus itself will likely beat Ford to the punch with the upcoming, redesigned Esprit.
