Check out this thread on Blue Oval News. There's a video and a couple of pics about a "new" Ford V8 being tested in a 2006 Mustang drag car. Blue II (a very reliable source of inside info from Ford) confirms it's the new Boss engine.

hmm. hope it is the new engine.

 

I think I remember Blue II also stating at some point that the 7.0 was being co-designed with Roush...so it would make sense for it to be testing with Roush. But that is really awesome, I hope it makes it to production.

thats gotta be the new engine. There is no other SOHC ford engine that is that long and looks like that. wonder if its 2v or 3v.

 

That was the old engine setup.

 

No, listen to it again. He said the car originally had a 5.4 supercar motor in it when they first ran it last year. What's in it now is an "experimental" motor and you can tell by the pics that isn't any current mod motor variation.

 

In a different thread, Blue II said it's SOHC 2V. Displacing 7 liters, it makes 700HP @ 7,000 RPM NA. What a beast!
