Remember Saturn? That transaction from cheap car to premium car didn't work very well for them.
In my opinion Taurus should've stayed a mid-size sedan and they can call a full size sedan a Fusion or something else (I would personally preferred Fairlane or Galaxie). Of course, now is too late.

I know I wouldn't. For the past 20+ years Taurus was a cheap mid-size sedan, now all of the sudden is a expensive full size premium sedan.

Motor Trend said they were planning one (a Fusion GT w/ EcoBoost), but it got pushed back to ~2012 due to lack of EcoBoost supply.
The front seating isn't significantly more roomy than more "midsize" cars (how much more room do you need), but the back seats and trunk are MUCH roomier.

Fusion SHO FTW!
I really like the Taurus...and just like Mustangs, most people wont be getting a SHO, like they dont get GT500, people buy the v6 mustangs, and they'll buy the cheapest Taurus

Or perhaps put in the version of the 3.7 they'll be dropping into the '11 Stang, the one with 315 naturally aspirated HP. That one sounds like it would be closer in spirit to the 3.0/3.2 Yamaha-design V6 of the original.

I was talking to a salesman in a local dealership, and he said they've gotten two SHOs in so far. One sold in less than three hours, the other sold before it arrived. Someone's willing to pay for them!
