Thank you Fields, Mulally, or Farley, whoever it was that gave the Hatch the Green Light!

Since Focus 2.0L is able to get "only" 24 mpg city, I don't expect more than 28 mpg city with Fiesta 1.6L. I hope I'm wrong.

Great news about the hatchback.... Just too late to the market since the other car in my household is a Toyota Yaris 3-door... If Ford made it earlier this year it would have been the Fiesta in the driveway instead.

Worse? Focus can't get more than 24 mpg in the city. How is 28 mpg worse than 24 mpg?

man... that looks so sweet.
if it is around 16k and gets good mileage it will be a big time winner, and the car i get when my minima finally poops out.

A manual 1.6L Fiesta of the current generation is rated at about 44mpg (combine cycle) with a manual transmission in Europe. Typically you can knock off just under 20% to figure out what the highway number would be, under the new standards, in America which would translate into ~37mpg. (what are the odds?) To be fair this is a crude way to try and get a figure but as rules of thumb go it isn't bad.

Also worth noting is that the 1.6L should receive some updates and the new Fiesta is lighter than the old model......you should easily get your 37mpg wish and, if I had to guess, I'd say odds are good the highway number will start with a 4.

I was thinking maybe Scion xB or xA since they're rated at 32/38 mpg. But Fiesta should be able to get 37 mpg on the highway. Even Focus can almost do that.

But then again, there is Chevy Aveo with 1.6L that's rated at 24/34 mpg (very low for such a small car with such a small engine) so we'll have to wait for Fiesta's numbers.

But I really want Marauder. I saw one of them on the highway today and it looked so mean.

It all depends on gas prices.

I think $16,000 is little too much.

Hatchback should be around $13,000 and sedan around $15,000.

I don't wanna pay more for Fiesta than I would've paid for Fit, Yaris od Versa. Ford's prices is one of the reasons why I like them so much.

if he 3-door is more affordable, that would be great! that's the one i would go for.
i've seen some three door models cost more than their 5 door counterparts (or even hatch cost more than sedan version)

At last, we can get an euro-spec car here without alterations! This is as good as having the Mazda 2, cuz in essence it's the same car, sans sheetmetal. Can't wait for official Mpg #'s.

The car will be ready before the Ecoboost fours will. Thre is a 1.6L Ecoboost under development which insiders are currently placing at 200hp/200lb-ft of torque. Such an engine could easily find it's way into a hi-po version of the Fiesta and deliver street scalding performance and jaw dropping mileage...I would be very interested in one if this comes to pass.

Also worth mentioning is that the car pictured in the link Moosetang gives above is a Euro Spec version. The US spec version is getting a more pronounced grille and arguably looks better for it. See the NA nose here...

Only the front clip is going to be vastly different with the rest of the new Fiesta's exterior being identical worldwide.......tail lights excepted.

Current rumors seem to be hinting at a base model 3-door starting at 13k.

Seems from that photo you linked to that Ford has found a way to integrate the European kinetic design ethos with North America's three-bar grille...with a result that is actually quite pleasing aesthetically >>
