Mach E? What?!

Mach E? What?!
I put it here because this area IS the 'Non-Mustang Vehicle Chat'...
So. Ford has decided to pull this out of an orifice... https://www.ford.com/suvs/mach-e/2021/
That's... not in any way a Mustang. Not even if you consider that concept wagon way back as part of the idea of Mustang (which was more Mustang than this thing...) I see some resemblance to the Mustang here and there, sure, cues that look like the current Mustang... but then those same cues made lots of people go "FUSION"... point being cues do not a Mustang make, yes? Everyone accepts the Fustang... Mustion... I kid, the current Mustang is handsome, even if the front end is a bit busy for me. The thing that makes it Mustang is... it's a *Mustang.* It has the performance, the 2+2, the looks, the feel...
I'm therefore having troubles as to why this otherwise nifty entry into the full electric CUV market by Ford has to be branded with the Mustang in any way. Heck, you can steal all the cues you want, like Mustang did from the Fusion front end (let us be honest, shall we?) but please, CALL IT SOMETHING ELSE. *It's not a Mustang, at all!* Even using the Mach name in any way is dirty, to me, but by itself... a 'Ford Mach E'... I might can be ok with it. Maybe. I don't know. Just not having Mustang in that name helps.
Bill Ford purports to be a Mustang guy, why did he sign off on this? Why was he at this event? He *knows* it's not a Mustang. He *knows* about the problem many have with Mustang II (I'm not one of them, btw.) He *knows* about *The Probe Incident*...
He. *Knows*.
And he's there promoting this thing.
Something is up, people. Something is coming. More than Mach E. More than Mustang as a Model.
That's right. I've figured it out.
Prepare for the new entry into the automotive brand from Ford. You've seen Ram become its own thing. You've seen Genesis.
Now... see MUSTANG.
That's right. Mustang is going to be its own brand of car. No longer the "Ford Mustang", Ford will spin off Mustang as its own brand, with its own cars and SUVs. Not a rebirth of Mercury, nosir. Lincoln's not going anywhere. But Mustang, that's a thing that's going to happen.
It's all so clear now. The revealing of Ford getting out of all things Car. All Trucks, C/SUVs... and Mustang?
Then this thing shows up. The Mustang Mach E.
There we go.
You heard it here first, folks.
And you know I'm right.
It's a glorious time to be a Mustang fan.
Mustang Fusion. Mustang Taurus. Mustang Fiesta.
And the glorious new Mustang Mach E.
Of course, you'll still have the Mustang Ecoboost, Mustang GT, and Mustang Boss/Bullit/Shelby/GT500... They'll all be Mustang Coupes. Or something better, IDK. Mustang Sport, Mustang OG... No matter, they'll figure it out, I'm sure.
And the obviously upcoming Mustang GT40. That's right, they'll go ahead and use that brand to make sure there's no mistaking a Mustang GT with a Mustang GT40. Or maybe just Mustang 40?
Regardless of all the nooks and crannies of the details of all the different Mustang models that're coming... My body is ready. Y'all's?
/Of course, If this should go in the Mustang 2021-??? section, I'm ok with it, do what you will Mods! I'm a humble denizen of this benevolent dictatorship!

Y'know... that is an *excellent* name for this thing! The Mustang Mach E Probe!
No, wait... THAT'S it...!
The Mustang Probe will be the coupe. Yeah. I can see it now. Mustang Probe, the Ecoboost base model. The Mustang Probe GT. And of course, the Mustang Probe Boss 302. Mustang Probe Shelby GT350. On occasion, the Mustang Probe Bullitt.
It all makes even MORE sense now. Ford still wants the Probe name to be a thing, and now it can be! I knew we'd come up with it. Thanks, Spectre!

I actually had to go into the dealership and drop something off for my friend and fellow Mustang nut tonight. As I walked in he just took one look at me and said yes I'm as disgusted as you! But I did pick these up.

ooooooooh some nice swag right there! Decorating the garage? what is that little blue and white plastic thingy wrapped in a bag?
***as for the Machofustang...
I like the vehicle and would probably welcome it into my stable for those occasional sub-300 mile commutes to and from the office. I am very happy with my REAL mustang, and my REAL F150 right now though, but i do see the future bearing down on us.

I agree this Mach-E is no mustang. Ford does need to create long range and competitive EVs to stay in the game, but trying to associate this Escape Electric SUV with Mustang heritage is going to cause damage to the Mustang brand. This is not a good thing. Ford needs to remove the Mustang name from the vehicle. The marketing team and/or research team are idiots and should be fired. This is a disgrace. I can’t believe any true Mustang lover would go along with this plan. The Mustang name needs to be reserved to Sports/Sporty cars of the Pony car design style.
***** Edit: You know if it was April 1st I would have accepted this as an April fools joke. I just can’t believe they (Ford) REALLY think this is a good idea. ******

I'm growing tired of my convertible and was so looking forward to this release. An electric Mustang would have been be cool. I could even give them some latitude for making 4 doors. Instead of a Mustang inspired EV we got a Tesla model Y inspired Ford. Kinda dorky exterior and an interior that has a 1980's Ford LTD dash with a 90's steering wheel , a Tesla copied touch screen, and 'vegan' leather seats...
It is nice to see Ford offer a serious EV, but right now what the EV market needs is choice, not Tesla knock-offs called Mustangs.

I don't wish to have anything to do with this re-badging of Mustang. I don't see the evolution from sports car to SUV. I want to have something that is dedicated to it's roots....a Camaro...a Challenger. So I'm out...time to put the Mustang on the selling block...Ford can bite me.

Honestly I'd rather the Mustang cease to exist than soldier on like this! I can't believe Bill Ford allowed this I want to start a mail campaign to rename this bvitch ASAP!!! I think I'm going to have a coronary over this I have got to calm down. I wonder how the younger generations feel about this or is it just the 50 and over club crying?

Let's face it,....Ford is going to be fully electric in the very near future as is Volvo. Sad, but true.
BUT,......PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!,.......do not call it a Mustang!!!!

One of my friends thoughts who is a big GM fan but I think he hit the nail right on the head!
You know boys, I'm thinking about this all. Ford is losing its identity in much the same way GM has lost its. It's all a reaction to the "greenie" mentality pushed by the ****tatds who don't understand engineering, let alone science in general. It's not automatic that electric is "better" than internal combustion.

From what I've been reading on Camaro 6, they are rumors of an all electric Camaro coming out in 2025. It could be the only Camaro made because the Camaro has nothing for production after 2023. I could be wrong...….

I dunno if this is a spam attempt or not....
Just be sure you pay too much for it in this weird market, being a v6. It's red, and that'll get cops attention, and it's a Mustang, so it's just as easily wrapped around a tree as any car.
I say get it!
/still not sure...
