If Lincoln doesn't need RWD and wants to "pull an Audi" - they better come up with some excellent interior and exterior style/design language across the range, because that's the "magic" that is working for Audi IMO.

Looking at it...it may be an Escape as a place holder for Monday

 

With the way things are looking and with their current future plan my bet is Lincoln is going the way of the Dodo.....sad.

 

will wait till monday, but if it is just another "badge job" then im afraid Lincoln is better put to rest. we'll see, here's hoping that it is as unique as the MKZ!

Anyone knows if Lincoln is planing anything else for Detroit Auto Show?

 

Haven't heard much. Apparently Ford is focusing on their trucks. The Free Press mentioned them specifically.

 

According to a USA Today article, Lincoln is profitable today on it's modest sales. So I doubt it is going away any time soon.

Rather than dumping truckloads of money in a panic reboot of the entire line, which could flop at massive cost, they're going one model at a time hoping to improve year-over-year. They can do that with Linc because it makes money and Ford's core products are fairly secure after the big overhaul it's gone through.

By the way, I think Ford did a great job with the MKC.
Yeah, its Escape based, but nobody can tell that just by looking at it.

Volkswagen has been using (successfully) same platforms for many different vehicles, from cheap Škodas to pricey Audis, but nobody can tell that by looking at them. And they sell. I'm sure the new MKZ and MKC will do just fine.

 

Yeah concept for the new F-150 is all but confirmed at this point. Not ruling out a surprise just yet, though.
