Lincoln Zephyr interior - Hmmm Looks familiar!

Looks like Ford Motor Company likes the customers response to the interior on the Mustang so much, they decided to use it as a template for their new luxury car (Lincoln Zephyr). See attached!

When I went to the Dallas Auto Show earlier this year, I was surprised to see the big, round A/C grilles in a lot of Ford's cars. I was also surprised to see them in a lot of non-Ford cars! Seems that everyone is jumping on that bandwagon.

Actually drove a Zephyr. The wood interior looks awesome in person. Not worth the 9K premium over a loaded milan or Fusion to me though.

I remember seeing the little clock from the Zephyr between the two ac vents on some concept or pre-production pictures of the mustang.

When do you get to close them, just for the pictures? I'm going to get into a car with a black top/black seats in Arizona when it's 106 out and keep my A/C vents closed because it looks good? Why not put in a low prfile diffuser and get it over with? I mean even back east in the winter aren't they alway's going to be open?

If it's really hot out and I've got the top down I close the two on the right side so that more air blasts through the driver's side vents.

Sorry, not feeling the Zephyr (sorry, MKZ) interior AT ALL. Looks like some throwback to a bad '70's interior. Don't mind the exterior, though, although as someone pointed out, the rear lights are a bit too big. Too bad they didn't follow the concept more closely. Now that thing was HOT!

Also, try pulling the door handles on a Zephyr (or Fusion, or Milan). They feel cheap and "tinney." Not nearly as solid as the Stang or 500 or F-150.

Clock in that pic was from a styling concept dash.

Here is a pic of a Fusion/Freestar style clock installed in my dash. (if you have seen this before, please excuse!)

Hah! so far behind the times. Alfa Romeo has been using a similar style of AC register since the 70's. Must be part of the whole retro styling trend. typical designers conversation... "Oh, check out the round registers in that Alfa Spider. Lets use them in our new [fill in the blank]."

My 04 Mazda 3 had those round style vents in it as did my dad's 04 F-150. They've been in a lot of Ford's lineup for a few years now.

And rightfully so, they look and work awesome. Only downside is you can't hang MP3 players and other things from them. Probably not a bad thing though.

Gotta disagree with you, we have owned a Milan V6 Premium for 4 months now and I feel we couldn't have made a better choice for the money. A bad 70's interior?? everyone that steps in our Milan raves about it! The rear is cool as hell with the LED tails and well placed emblems imho. I also don't feel the "tinny and cheap" in the handles either???? Maybe we got a ringer, I don't know. The Milan is very well built and quiet. The paint is exceptional on ours as well, much better than my Mustangs unfortunately.

I guess I don't see how anyone could dislike the car for the money spent, I do agree that it needs the new 3.5, however.

Why not? If they are indeed the same part, it would save the company money by using the same part in many different cars. Hmm. Wonder if they can be interchanged?
