Hey guys...I know it's been a while since I've been here (bought my Firebird and moved on to some more relevant forums) but anyway, I got an idea to make something out of a town car.

I'm pretty sure they don't make too many Lincoln specific performance parts but would bolt-ons made for the Mustang work on it?

I can't seem to find any real information on the motors they used. Knowing Ford, wouldn't a lot of it be the same as the Mustang?

Thanks guys...maybe I'm just crazy.

Less power. 237hp 287tq. But it is the 3V 4.6

It's funny thinking about someone actually buying a town car that wasn't a limo company. The fact that they actually go up to like $55k is crazy.

The only car to get the 4.6 3V was the Mustang. Town Car, Crown Vic, and Grand Marquis still have the 2V. I don't think that's gonna change. Did the Lincoln's get the plastic intake manifold, or were they given the upgraded aluminum one? Other than that, I don't think there's really a difference compared to the 1996-2004 Mustangs (GT's got plastic, Bullitt, Mach 1 and Cobras had aluminum), besides different gearing.

Even if it had the 3V, there can't be anyone dumb enough to buy a Town Car for 50k!!! Lincoln doesn't even include them in their commercials anymore. They aren't even TRYING to sell them. You woudl have to be some kind of uuuber fan boy to buy a Town Car over the myriad of choices you have at the 50k price point.

A lot of old people have money, and they know what they want. Plus there are fleet sales. I can't go to the airport without seeing as many Town Cars (with a Livery plates) as I do regular cabs.

I've sat in many town cars as I travel a lot on business. None of them were even in the same ballpark as the 2 gen's old now S-class that one of the drivers uses. If you wanted to sell that antiquated hulk for 35k, that would be one thing. But to sit there and expect someone to pay 55k for it is an act of flattery the likes of which should never be seen by any company.

The marauder was a much nicer car inside than any town car ive been in, and it retailed for 32. Throw in Nav and a better stereo and where would that leave you? 35, 40 tops? The people at Lincoln are so completely out of their minds, it's a wonder they were able to put 2 and 2 together and realize they better put a bigger motor in the Zephyr if they wanted to sell any of them.

Lincoln is in shambles right now, I agree that the Town car is about 15 years past its prime and its primary use is the fleet/limo sales.

Look on the bright side, at least they didn't rename it the MKTC

Zephyr sales are higher than expected.

That being said, they are getting the new Duratec 35 (250hp, ULEVII) and available AWD this year (well I guess technically for the 2007 model year, but you know what I mean). It's six speed auto is still at the top of the class too.

Why is it at the top of its class just because it's a 6 spd? If the performance and fuel economy are the same as a competitor's 4 or 5 spd, what's the difference? In fact, knowing auto transmissions, that's just 1 more gear to develop a slippery clutch pack.

They are expensive when they're brand new; however, they are losing value really fast. I saw '00 Town Car for sale with under 60,000 for under $10,000.
