I'll disagree completely on this one. The problem you cite is far more akin to the driver's side cylinder head issue the Terminators had than the indefinate maintenance issues of previous rotaries. For what is effectively an entirely new engine the Renesis has performed just fine. And if we are discussing problem areas the car itself has been far more problematic than the motor with tranny and brake issues that still linger.

If this car has a 240hp V-6 in it interest would likely be little or no higher. Who wants a quasi-four door which isn't hugely more useful than a slightly larger two door but looks dorkier than many four doors? It's like an answer to a question nobody asked. I love RX7's, even with their problems, but there is little to love about the RX8. Fix the platform related problems, slap some ceramic seals on the rotary, make it a turbo, and revamp it into a proper RX7.

That said, if Lincoln builds a quasi four-door it'll be just one more perfectly good opportunity to build a coupe screwed up by people who are too smart by half.

Yeah, your post brings up a point I have been considering, and which many others here have hinted at. Maybe Ford has no long term plans to build V-8's smaller than the 5.8L Boss? Such a sweeping replacement would surprise me, but a turbo V-6 offers some advantages over the a small V-8, mainly in terms of weight and packaging, which makes the idea of replacing small V-8's with FI V-6 engines credible. In fact, this is effectively what BMW has wrought with the new turbo 3-Series models, although they effectively pre-empted the use of a V-8 rather than actually replacing one.

Yeah, drop a few hundred lbs., paint it black, and fix the front end a bit... = Lincoln version of the GN. Think what that engine could do in a Mustang!

I guess we have different definitions about what constitutes "performing fine."

Some of the detail work is more miss than hit, but overall both are great looking cars and I hope we see alot more of them.

If Ford ditches small-displacement V8s in favor of TT V6's I admit I'll shed a tear, but it will be for the best. Just as long as they keep the Big V8s around, that is

This thing is sweeeeet. Styling and powertrain are really good, plus a shiftable 6-speed automatic for RWD, pretty cool. As for production? I dunno, i think there's a chance we could see a lincoln coupe, and i don't think it would require too much of a toning down on the outside. Pretty cool that Horbury's taking the lincoln design language so seriously, developing a set of features to be featured in variations on all lincolns. They don't really say much about platforms, but do you suppose this is on the D2C platform with the SRA swapped out? That'd be pretty cool.
Plus they say Lincoln's new RWD sedan should be out in 2008, also very exciting. Can't wait to see the Interceptor concept next. You gotta love press embargos....

If you watch the video, you will see that the MKR actually has 4 full-sized doors.

Or, you can look at the pics that Mustang-Sallad posted. You can see that one of the rear doors is open. It is a conventional front-hinged door.

That kind of looked like a V-8 under the hood. Anyone else agree? I mean, it probably doesn't have the production engine of course being a concept, but that looked like a V-8 to me.
