Jaguar and Land Rover On Chopping Block
The London Sunday Times is reporting that Ford may sell off Land Rover with Jaguar, or, if it keeps Jaguar, turn the mark into a smaller, exotic specialty brand.
This guy says Ford should sell Volvo and keep Jag and LR

I say sell LR!

I say sell LR!
Why? LR's profitable, well-liked, and not suffering from overcapacity. If they get past the quality control problems as they have with the rest of PAG, they'll be sitting pretty.
Volvo platforms and engineering are too intertwined with the rest of Ford to sell.

I think it is... they are in the beginning of releasing some brand spanking new Jags that are going to knock off some socks... and I've read that the company in other's hands might be really bad for Jaguar

Jaguar. Get ready to be disappointed, Jaguar fans. The rumble from rumors coming out of Dearborn is growing louder, and the picture emerging is that the Hyundai conglomerate is hard on the case of acquiring Jaguar and perhaps Land Rover in a bundle. Kia, part of the Hyundai auto empire, is said to be the new home for the Jaguar brand. What does it all mean? It's a big bowl of not good as far as we're concerned, as any residual connection to Jagaur's illustrious heritage will be finally put to rest. And it makes the exclusive, desirable brand's still standing that much more valuable.
Unfortunatley the problem with the X-Type, which I personally love, according to a friend of mine who used to work for Jag, was that a lot of Jag owners would pass it by without a glance because to them to own a Jag was to spend the big bucks and have the prestige. While on the other hand the people that would be in the market saw the name Jaguar and automatically thought "too expensive for me."
That and the X-Type had some reliabilty issues which I'm sure did not help.
All in all I think Jag is savable. What they need to do is cut the big yachts save for maybe one model (no more extended versions) and do what Aston is doing and stick to sports cars.
