Well, since we're getting the new Mk III Euro-Focus in MY 2010, maybe, just maybe, Mulally will nix the beancounters and tell them to bring a few thousand of these here as well. I SURE HOPE SO!!! WOW!!!

Good news indeed! Now, will the U.S. market be similarly blessed? If WRX STi's and Lancer Evolutions can sell here, I don't see why a Focus RS couldn't do the same.

Topic headline had me believing it was on its way HERE.

Everyone knows that we don't need those expensive, overwrought Eurotrash Fords in North America. They'd cost to much and NEVER succeed here.

 

I thought the same thing when reading the title.

I was look woohoo focus RS coming to the US!

Never say never Hollywood. Its based on the next-gen Focus (the Mk III) that IS coming here. If they were to sell a small amount of these in the USA, they would do well with it, as long as it would be a proven competitor against the Evo and STi crowd. Lets hope for the best.

I agree they would do well with it IF they have the stones to bring it over here.

Ford needs to stop hoping and start DOING. Whatever happened to that whole multi-million dollar 'Bold Moves' campaign, anyway? That sure fizzled out quickly.

A little less talk and a little more action - REAL action - would benefit Ford immensely. Let's see what the January auto show brings...

Ford just needs to poo or get off the pot, or hire Lutz who actually seems capable of getting the obvious done rather than trot out one excuse as to "why not" after another. If Ford would spend half the effort doing things as they do in doing studies why they can't, they'd be swimming in black ink rather than red and we'd have access to all those way-cool Euro and Aussie Fords.

Sell them through the currently useless Mercury division as upscale, driver-oriented vehicles, somewhat of a cross between what GM's Saturn (yuppie upscale) and Pontiac (driver/performance) divisions are evolving into.

 

I would love to see a Focus RS in the states. I don't think it would ever happen. Ford wouldn't want their darling Mustang shown up by a Focus. The RS would embarass the Mustang in every aspect of performance.

 

It does seem as though while GM actually gets things done, Ford makes excuses for why it can't.

I still think the bureaucracy in Ford is tied up in a morass of mediocrity and pleistocene thinking. It will be Ford's end if they don't give management an enema soon...very soon.

 

There's a simple answer to that, too. Give the Mustang a serious power and handling boost so that "performance cars" like the Shelby GT aren't getting spanked by juiced-up, four-banger import econo-boxes.

By the time 2010 arrives, the Mustang will be well in need of its update.
