Houston Auto Show
This might actually need to go in General vehicle discussions, but I mostly checked out the Fords. A good waste of my afternoon
Shelby...Amazing, no other words can describe it. Only the convertible was on display, and the guy providing info was not very well informed...as per usual at an auto show here.
'07 Sport Trac...vast improvement over the current model, but now there is little differentiation between the Sport Trac and the standard Explorer (from the front anyway). Still, the parents are considering one to replace their '98 F150.
'07 Expedition...I'd like mine in Redfire with Eddie Bauer trim please. I want the standard length and not the EL. The EL just looks to long...and I have no reason for the extra room anyway!
Edge..OMG
BEAUTIFUL!!! It was up on the display stand, so I didn't get a good view of the interior, but definitely a better looking vehicle than the Murano
SuperChief...Gargantuant is the only word I can think of to describe it. Oddly enough, it is extremely low to the ground.
Harley F-150...That needs to be the standard grille on the F-150, reminds me of my '82.
Fusion...the Charcoal Beige or Dark Stone (same color) looks amazing, the Tungsten looked puprle in that lighting though.
Lincoln Mark X...yes, please! Amazing details, and I hope that grille makes it to the new Navigator. Several people were inquiring about pricing...the rep said "I couldn't even venture a guess". I did though. Based on the CX-7's base price of just under 24K, I think 33-35 as a starting point is reasonable. I don't believe it would start too much closer to the Zephyr, but any higher and they will out-price themselves.
Milan/Zephyr...I would love to have a Zephyr with the dark graphite interior, but for the price I'll get a Milan.
Moutaineer...The power retractable running boards are awesome!!! I do not like the cheesey Leather outer/cloth inner seats though. Reminds me of my Grandmothers old Cougar...and not in a good way.
Grand Marquis...I just have to put this in...a teenage girl says to her friends "Eeewww, they still make that, it's like a hundred years old!" I wanted to say, "No dear, it is just on a platform older than you.
Mazda...big disappointment because they did not have the CX-7  .
Hummer H2 and H3...I really like the rugged looking exterior, but they interiors are too small! My '02 Explorer Sport has more rear seat leg room.
Volvo C70...If I had 40 grand to blow on a car...I'd still buy a Shelby, but I would at least go drive the C70...if for no other reason than to play with the retractable hard top.
Saturn Aura and Sky...in production trim...supposedly. It really looked like the concept that was there last year, as did the rest of their display. The Aura and sky look amazing, much better than their Pontiac and Chevy counterparts.
Scion...Got a free Beanie because I told the guy I knew more than he did about the tC...and he was impressed with the vast amount of worthless knowledge my brain contains
VW GTI...not for 29K, neat car though, I like the interior.
VW Eos...if it comes to market for 32-ish, the G6 and C70 are going to tank! It was a little smaller than either of them, but looks amazing.
Audi A3...nice, but again, not for the price.
Honda Civic Coupe...really nice, if I wanted a more fuel effecient car. I would consider it as a daily driver once Rogue gets paid off and goes in the garage.
Can't think of any others right now...I'll post more as I look through my pictures and brochures tomorrow.
