Or it could be that the next Falcon is using an updated and revised version of the Mustang's D2C platform, which would make both rumours correct.

Sweeeeeet. I really can't wait! This is definitely something to get excited about. The australian based large RWD car has seemed like a pipe dream for many years now.
Lets see, there was talk for a while about axing the Town Car, and then they backed off on that and just moved production to the St Thomas plant. So i'm guessing they were gonna get rid of the Town Car cause this new RWD lincoln will be a decently big car. I doubt it'll be town car sized, but I'd say it's gonna slot in above the MKS. Now if only they'd ditch the alphabet soup for this one and just call it the Continental... (or is that not possible now with the Bentley Continental...)
I don't think they should ditch the whole livery Town Car business, although maybe that doesn't bring in much cash. I say if its not losing them money, keep at it, its at least providing a bunch of jobs to people who need money, and its a cool car too.

Possible, but everything that's been said to this point has indicated the new platform was being develope by Ford-Aus and they haven't had any reason to use D2C.

I wonder if this isn't the Mazda 6 all over again. Give the Aussie's an existing Ford platform to update, in this case D2C, but publically deny it in order to throw the Aussie's a bone by making it look like they made a new platform from scratch. Politics motivated the Mazda 6 scenario so who knows what might be going on here? If the next Falcon's platform shows up looking like D2C plus a foot of wheelbase and an IRS I'm calling BS on the Ford PR guys.

Great, yet another Lincoln concept.
Meanwhile, Cadillac is pulling way out in front with products that are actually bold >>
"Ford reportedly considered using a stretched version of the Mustang platform, but it was decided a solid rear axle wouldn't be appropriate for a luxury vehicle."
Duh. Was this even a debate?
"In March, Newsweek said Ford was working on a retro-styled RWD rival to the Chrysler 300C."
HOW long ago did they show the 427 concept? Always a day late and millions of dollars short.
