Ford vows 'highest quality' compact cars

While it's an aggressive and welcome statement, Six Sigma is yesterday's news and Ford is a bit late to the party with it.

Still, glad to hear that Dearborn (aka Mulally) is getting deadly serious.

I want Ford to vow highest quality of all cars, not just compact, but i guess you gotta start somewhere and whatever measures they take on the compacts hopefully filters to the other models.

After promising "bold moves", well, let's see if Ford means it this time because the way things are going, there probably won't be a next time.

I'm actually beginning to see evidence that they understand there isn't going to be another "next time".

Not only that, but the stuff coming out of their mouths sounds intelligent and on-point, as opposed to previous Execs' BS which sounded like "Derpy Derpy Doo, Da-Derp De-Derp Dee-Doo."

I'm actually excited about this new little Fiesta. With its turn signal mirrors, HID headlamp option and pushbutton start, it already outclasses the Echo and Fit. It's on its way to actually being "cool", like the Mini, only for less money. And that should really be Ford's goal: Approaching the Mini's "cool factor," at a price closer to Echo and Fit (maybe a bit more). There's gotta be people out there who want a subcompact that is more stylish and better equipped than the Echo and Fit, but who don't want to step up to the price of a Mini.

Ford's answer to the redux Fiat 500, perhaps (another little B-segment car I love).

With the RoCam four being the sole initial engine offering I think we can safely say Ford is taking the conservative route in terms of pricing.
