Ford trying to catch up

Local news in Detroit area saying that Ford is having problems meeting demand. Hmm ya think? lol Anyways Ford is saying they're adding more shifts, shortening summer shutdowns , building more cars at Mazda plant (Flat Rock where our Mustangs are built!) and speeding up assembly lines. Here's the news link if anyone's interested

My old Dodge dealer bought the Ford store a few years ago and just sold it. Said he couldn't believe how difficult it was to acquire vehicles from Ford. Chrysler would send him more vehicles than his little dealership could handle and his Ford store had a very empty looking lot always. He had to throw in the towel just because he couldn't get the cars to sell.

the fiat dealers are worse then VW dealers.. they act like they are selling lambo's and make you wait for 20 mins or longer. They are super high pressure and want paper work up front. I told them "I drove on to this lot in $40,000 car and you are acting like I cant afford a 24k abarth? you and the manager guy and keep ur bull**** car".

What, do you change cars every 6 months religiously or something? You've been rambling on about that Fiesta for months now.

I dont see how adding shifts would hurt quality. Adding new employees may have a short term effect on quality untill they get more experienced, but that would be for only a very short time. By adding shifts, maybe we will see more GT500s produced sooner.

I have a illness! only if more cow bell would cure this monster that lives inside of me.

also

the worry isnt just adding shifts but add shifts at the mazda plant and speeding up the line is really when errors will happen.

Right now they're not building very many Mazda6's at AAI, and they're still on one shift and severely under capacity. The way I read that article was that it was all plants, not just one. For Ford, its a good problem to have.

They could keep dealer supply somewhat low on purpose as well. It makes it look like demand is very high to the consumers. Perhaps make people think its a car worth waiting for?

Audi does this like crazy. They can't keep A5s and Q7s on lots because they only bring in a few at a time. Real, yet artificial demand.

Might work for Audi and the Audi buyer but a bigger risk for Ford. Running low inventory fustrates the dealers and they run the risk of the buyer going to another brand.
